God I hope she gets the Republican nomination :stongue: :stongue: :stongue:
She was later quoted as accusing the reporter of asking a "gotcha" question. The actual question was "What was the most memorable and interesting fact you learned today."

Experts back Sarah Palin’s historical account
In fact, Revere’s own account of the ride in a 1798 letter seems to back up Palin’s claim. Revere describes how after his capture by British officers, he warned them “there would be five hundred Americans there in a short time for I had alarmed the Country all the way up.”
Boston University history professor Brendan McConville said, “Basically when Paul Revere was stopped by the British, he did say to them, ‘Look, there is a mobilization going on that you’ll be confronting,’ and the British are aware as they’re marching down the countryside, they hear church bells ringing — she was right about that — and warning shots being fired. That’s accurate.”
Patrick Leehey of the Paul Revere House said Revere was probably bluffing his British captors, but reluctantly conceded that it could be construed as Revere warning the British.
And the original historical text written by Revere:
quote:
I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from,& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he asked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I answered in the affirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up. He immediately rode towards those who stopped us, when all five of them came down upon a full gallop; one of them, whom I afterwards found to be Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, Clapped his pistol to my head, called me by name, & told me he was going to ask me some questions, & if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out. He then asked me similar questions to those above. He then orderd me to mount my Horse, after searching me for arms
This is like when she said she was ready to party like it was 1773 and the Lefty blogosphere started hyperventilating saying she's so stupid not knowing the country's birth was in 1776, when she was talking about the Boston Tea Party in 1773.

Why would I delete it? I love Sarah Palin. She's a great caricature for the stupidity of the Tea Party.

Nowhere does any of that say that Revere was "ridin' around" shooting his gun to "protect our right to be armed." And if you're in politics, learn how to ing speak correctly. If there's a "g" on the end of the word, you pronounce it. This whole "Joe 6 pack" bull is completely ing stupid. Let's appeal to the majority of uneducated Americans by talkin' like a moron just like they do!
In the interview, she said that Revere himself was the one ringing bells and shootin' those guns to warn the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms! That is inaccurate. Her account of what was going on during the time may have coincidentally been true, but Revere was only the one relaying the warning, he wasn't the one "ringin' the bells and shootin' the guns."

I'm not sure if petitioning for a more responsible and efficient government that spends less money and follows the rule of law is the epitome of stupidity, but ok. That being said, I figured you would remove the post when you realized it's premise was wrong.
psymon.d
she is almost as though she's some perverse growth of some fan-fiction Fargo character into mainstream politics. waiting for the coen brothers to be like "ahaaaaa, this is the future of cinema!"

I thought this was about her stupidity with history, not her dialect.

"It's" premise was not wrong by any means. She clearly stated in her interview that Paul Revere was riding around ringing bells and shooting guns. He did not do that. Her further assertion that this was to protect our right to bear arms I won't even get into, because I fear that I wouldn't be able to do that statement justice without the aid of crayons.

It's an example to illustrate her stupidity with anything and everything that resembles a coherent and/or intelligent thought. Do I need to post her interview about where she gets her news from?
Yeah, I think I do. This is how it should have went down:

From "Paul Revere's Ride" by David Hackett Fischer (Oxford University Press 1994):
quote:
"A townsman remembered that 'repeated gunshots, the beating of drums and the ringing of bells filled the air.'.... Along the North Shore of Massachusetts, church bells began to toll and the heavy beat of drums could be heard for many miles in the night air."
Dude you're moving the goal posts on the argument, originally making it as "she was ass backwards on history" to something else about who was banging drums and shooting guns, and how maybe it was Revere, maybe it wasn't.
