Roll Call : Sasha @ Stereo (pg. 11)

Sasha has always been a master at pushing boundaries and showing his audience things they would have never thought musically possible. At the same time, humans innately look for meaning where it does not always exist, and create it in its absence sometimes. I guess it's up to the individual to decide which is more at play in this case.

very true, correlation isn't strong enough to draw a clear connection. Cuz, conversely one could think of several artists who play happy stuff but who also could slit their wrists tomorrow :p

wow!!! BRILLIANT!! I was hoping some vids would pop up!! Thanks so much for letting me get a lil taste of what the nite was like! Believe it or not I couldn't sleep or do anything all weekend checking my watch & calculating the time difference wondering where you were all at at certain points! lol ...love the last track of the 11min vid! ;)

Best night in the New Stereo (felt like Old Stereo). Music wise, I preferred a little bit more Guy J set one month ago but the ambiance was not the same. Go listen the Sasha set at Womb if you want to remember that amazing night (I downloaded the 4 hrs set in the South West Four site).
mnemonic.
Unreal experience. I really don't have that many words to describe, but that set was exactly what I like to hear.

For me it was really mechanical. A symphony of assembly line techno groove swith wide open spacey synths and really long delay trails that just snake their way around the room. Perfect.

It took him a while to establish himself but that was okay. Rome wasn't built in a day. There was one moment when a really repetitive loop was suddenly dwarfed by a big booming kick drum rumbling through the room. That for me was the signal that it was on. Such a massive payoff moment. That's when I cracked a smile and never stopped after that. Left after he played Klartraum's 'Pain relief' ... sounded beautiful in Stereo.

I got a message at 6am asking how Sasha was doing; “He hasn’t even let it drop yet. His fist is pulled back, ready to punch.” And not too long after that, this is what he did, and the room exploded.

I believe this was the moment... Such a unbelievable wow shock moment... I was standing up in the seating area and just grabbed my head "WTF!"

As usual, very late to post my comments!

For my friends and I, this was a true voyage. Very LINEAR, meticulously dark, and intricately woven set. I haven't heard such dark next-level prog since Satoshi Tomiie's NuBreed cd release at the Temple in June 2002.

Some of Sasha's basslines have haunted me until a few days after that night. I think he'll be back sooner rather than later. The last 10-15 mins sounded like retro 90's electronica...not my cup of tea, but this was my only complaint of an otherwise brilliant set. Tried to get an encore (sans retro), but no go. He must have been tired...

unreal night. very hard to put it into words. my ears, mind and body were on a journey for 5+ hours from nothing but deep, dark, sensual progressive quality music. it was a complete outer body experience indeed!

i've been wanting to see Sasha for a long time and i always missed on him due to a combination of personal reasons and him not showing up in Toronto 3 times i think. i heard very good things about Stereo and wow, was i ever impressed!

hands down, best party I've been to date. i'm forever in love with Sasha <3<3<3<3

p.s. one of my most memorable and favorite moments of many from the night was when he played Nero - Innocence (Sasha V_rtek Edit). i still remember precisely every single shiver in my body from head to toe during this track <3
