Lots of varying reviews on here, I guess that's the beauty of art sometimes, if you want to look at it that way.
Have to fully agree with Marcus's comments about the unevenness of the set, although a 'better' set may have been tough to appreciate as well when the place was as rammed as it was that night.
Beanfield feat Bajka - Tides
Old track but that was one I was hoping he would dust off from Fundacion as it would have sounded dreamy on that sound system.
So Simon Patterson and Sean Tyas at Circus, Sasha at Stereo and SVD at Beach Club, all in one weekend. If you value your life, I suggest you try not to emulate what I just did :wtf:
PS, lol@the sheer amount of ppl wearing sunglasses at Stereo that night.. hmmmmm.
PPS, Malek, yeah, I loved the Red Lite set better.. too many variables to make a fair comparison but, imo, the Red Lite set was great. Absolutely pluriffic seeing you and Marcus, Knox, Kotsy and Mark Cuban :p

Barely post on TA anymore but I had to for this.....10am cheers "I'm NOT GOING HOME"....I stayed until one of the guys took his macbook, that's when I knew he ain't comin back :P was my 9th time seeing Sasha and his best performance :D
I loved every single second of his set and the vibe was unreal in there.....AMAZING crowd...the place almost exploded to this track Layo & Bushwacka-what do you say, like people having outer body experiences around me IT WAS INTENSE :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: but so f'in good!
Stereo <3 is by far still my favourite afterhours on this planet!

I went in with no expectations, and took it in as it came out of the speakers. I agree that is was very uneven. There were some stretches where he kept me on the floor, but I spent much of the time sitting with friends. Obviously I wasn't expecting him to keep an even level of energy throughout the night, and switching up styles can be done well to keep things sounding fresh, but I felt he missed the mark this time overall. Parts of the set just sounded downright cold and evil. I love dark sounds, but I just kept thinking he has seen some nasty go down in his life, and it's coming through right now. I tend to soak in what's going on more intensely than some, but I didn't like those parts.
The crowd was decent considering the kind of people that tend to go out for international headliners and the fact that it was a Friday. I was pleasantly surprised in that sense. In the end, it was the group I was with that kept a smile on my face.
P.S. Nice meeting you Malek :D

Sasha could really use a gym membership and a break from partying :p

Really?
You don't think that someone in his position, who has done as many drugs as he has (legendary), who has had access to whatever he wants, who has such heavy demands to preform, who feels such intensity has a serious dark side?
Seems pretty obvious to me.

Dark music doesn't mean the DJ has problems.
I have played the darkest and most evil , and I am a drug free, very very happy person, with an almost non-existent dark side.
But I think there's a way to do it, and most people get the warmth and even love I try to communicate with it. It's all about how you relate to people and being in the right state of mind.

I have seen him coutnless times starting in around '97. I used to go to Twilo just to see him & Digweed about every other month. I never heard him play anything that dark. Not just dark, but cold.
I'm not trying to say it was the dominant sound of the night. Not at all. But a few parts really made an impact, and not a comfortable one. In discussing it with my friends after, a few of them brought it up before I shared my thoughts on the matter.
I did have a great night overall, though, and would go see him again.

WOW is all I can say for a night like that. Personally, my fav set that I've heard live. I entered @ Stereo at 3:30 and was pretty surprised on how packed the place was. Tone Depth was rocking the dance floor with some good beats ( I think his "mini" effects that he did was a bit fails towards the end of his set) but that's my 2 cents.
At around 5ish, Sasha entered the dj boot and took control over the decks. I was kinda surprised that he didn't cut the music and start from scratch, he just fallowed Tone Depths set. I wasn't sure what to expect out of him. Hernan and Digweed played some very techy/housy sets, so I thought Sasha might take that road. The first two hours, he was all over the place. From housy to techy, to dark/cruel drops. I WAS LOVING IT. He was very unpredictable and his mixing was A+,perfection. ( I was kind of glad that the drugs didn't hit, I could give my full attention to music and not roll for two hours and not realizing what he played :S ). After these two hours, he switched gears and started to go more into melodic house/ prog. Every track was amazing, and I loved his flow. At this point, my crew had mixed feelings about his set. Some were saying "WTF is he playing, I don't understand a thing", while others were saying that it was their fav set of the night. I guess it all depends on taste. I remembered when he dropped this :
I was going crazy, it sounded so well on the speakers. As the night progressed, he went back to dark, and then back to melodic. I think he even played a couple of old school trance songs, or border-line trance.
Other plus of the night, the crowed. Loved how the place was packed till the end, and that there was plenty of room to dance in front of the stage! (PS.The ventilation was amazing, but we're not going to enter that debate right now :P)
Overall: Epic night for me.
Music : 10/10
Venue : 10/10
Crowed : 10/10
Thank you soo much Stereo for booking Sasha! And thank you Sasha for that amazing performance!
