What a night.

Got in around 3:45 and it was already rammed to the , had a hard time finding a decent spot on the left so I found my comfort zone on the right hand side. A lot more gays then I thought would be there, also a lot of older people. I must have seen 10-15 people in their 40s, including a group of 4-5 40 year old moms that didn't look like crack head party animals haha. A lot of nice young chicks too.

Tone Depth was still on and he was hit or miss for me, he was alternating between melodic and dark prog, wasn't feeling it much. Some songs were just great but I was really looking forward to Sasha taking the stage.. I've seen Tone Depth just tear it up before, it's gotta be hard opening up for Sasha haha.

Sasha opened up with a brief ambient intro and then opened with Lee Burridge & M. Dekay - Wongel, I've always wanted to hear that track at Stereo and it immediately got the crowd bouncing around. He played tech house for about 20 minutes then slowly began transitioning the set by bringing in some nice melodic synth stabs infused.

Around 5:45 when everyone's peaking on E, here comes the dreamy trancy prog house he's known for. It was refreshing to hear the melody that we so rarely hear at the Temple. People were loving it.

My favorite part of the night was from 7:00-8:00 am, deep thick techy basslines and just awesome piano riff samples, brass, that one track with the indian scales made me go ape . At 7 Sasha had me locked in for the long haul, I was ready to stay till the end. The dance floor got a lot more comfortable around then, and I didn't leave my spot on the floor for an hour and a half. Just terrific..

Around 7:45, a pumping classic house track just mixes in and the crowd just errupts bringing the energy levels back up to the max. He then started to mix it up nicely, some tribal techno blending into some dirty evil sounding prog, Digweed style.. around 8:45 just throbbing techno tracks.. We ended up leaving around 9:45, I was fully satisfied with my night.

I'm just so impressed.. his mixing was just spot on, unlike Marcus I don't think he was all over the place. I thought when he made the jump into a new direction sound wise, it was built up slowly and the transitioning of his set was super smooth. He's a master using his effects, the sound was just incredible all night.. the sound was also just perfect, slowly getting louder then dipping with the energy of the set, then pounding at the end. The programming of his set was probably the best I've ever heard. It truly was a journey, and from 7-8:45am I didn't leave my spot on the dance floor to smoke, grab a drink, piss or just walk around to look at chicks. He had me locked in.. Best set I've seen at Stereo so far.

I feel bad for the people who told me they're not going because prog isn't their thing. I don't listen to much prog anymore, but he only really played the dreamy trancy stuff when everyone was tripping out, which was fitting. I was plurring it up, and he got real deep soon after. I have a hard time believing I'll see a better set at Stereo in a long time. Sasha's set just beats out Layo & Bushwacka's from back in November as my favorite set.

Question: 4 microphones hanging in front of the speakers.. recorded set?

those 4 things...are called slot tweeters. i always wondered what they were as well...they kind of "enhance" the highs i think...

what a ridiculous night...review later, maybe :p

Stereo was absolutely amazing last night. Right up there with Womb, Fabric and Space as one of the best in the world.

I will have to chime in with Max here, seriously the first 2h were just a continuation of Tone's set, which is a great acknowledgment by Sasha of Tone's great work.

But honestly, I paid 40$ to experience the melodic mixes of Sasha and he failed to deliver. I left at 6:45.

BTW, where is that temple of Sound? Sound is very ordinary, nothing exceptional. I barely heard any highs.

The layout of the club was great, reminded me of being in Tron lol, loved it, clean, sober, just the right touch of light.

P.S. His set at redlite was way better, minus the crappy venue and sound system of course.

He only started to push the sound sytem after you left.. around 8am he was teasing us with some heavy basslines, this one track came on and it sounded like a dirty south rap track, the whole place was vibrating.. 8:30-9:30 was just relentless pounding techno. He did it right, didn't push the system too early.

That is the problem. He basically flipped the switch around then and his set just became unbelievable!

Good seeing you!

dont get me wrong i really LOVED his set it was unbelievable. I just think the energy kept going up and down all night instead of a gradual build and then relentless techno

know what I mean?

Agree to disagree, sorry but after 2+h deep in the set, without it going anywhere, is way too long of a wait.

P.S. I went there to listen to music, not pop pills.

P.S.2. I'm willing to put a 20$ that spinladen preferred his set at redlite ;)

First time seeing Sasha, and first time I've been back to Stereo since Prydz, and all I have to say is... Hiyooooo!!

First thing was pretty funny running into you Max in the lineup lol, Steve kept saying all Saturday about he prolly should have joined us heh.

Also gotta add, like Malek already did, the transition when Sasha started was perfect, Tone was killing it and the crowd was eating it up!

I lasted till about 9 and then I could literally not dance anymore, but man his whole set was killer. Have to admit Stereo really is beautiful, and the whole crowd seemed to be in the zone. The vibe that night was just plain dirrrrty! Also gotta quote Corjay on one thing...

Could not have said it better myself, that bass was just absolutely ridiculous, and your spot on about the amount of ppl on the dance floor, by then just enough ppl had left so that everyone seemed to have enough room to get that extra step in!

All in all, Sasha killed it, Stereo + Crowd killed it, have to say one of the best nights I've had in awhile!
