:haha: So true.

Anyways, GTR - Mistral was cool. Can't really think of anything else at the moment that didn't suck balls.

I used to like him before he started putting out all that vocal garbage. Sander van Doorn used to be my favorite DJ too, and he's doing the same thing now. :( FML.

Same here. I loved Emery like 4 years ago...then he went down hill. As for Sander, his last descent set I saw was last summer, after that he took a completely different direction. Oh well :(

I'm gonna stand up for the bloke here.

He has introduced me to some amazing tunes and puts out a really good podcast every fortnight.

It is no where near as as Armin's show.

Emery does play some cheese, and I didn't/don't like it when he starts on a dubstep tune or ends on dnb, but the guy does play gems among the fluff.

Guy's got me through some tough assignments and work outs, can't say anything else has.

I know it's almost a given that ANY trance theses days is blaspheme on these boards because let's face it we are growing up.

Fly over to a tech house, hiphop or dubstep forum or whatever and the message is the same [insert genre] is dead and big emerging artist is a sellout. While that may be true the big superstars of trance in the hay day all dropped vocal crap and fluff, you guys are just nostalgic over alice dj or bartezz or whatever.

Why thanks, I have my moments.

I saw a PVD set from circa 2001 and I listened for a bit and I just thought, Jesus if anyone these days pulled a set like this they would be torn apart.

Aside from the average-at-best mixing, we had tunes like 4 Strings - Let it Rain, Bartez - Infected or On the Move (I don't remember why cheeseocrap it was) PVD - We are Alive.

All dog tunes really, or at least matched by todays standard of fluffy cheese vocals. And yet sets like those go down as being some of the finest trance ever spun.

Gareth Emery: 95% of Trance is Cheesy Bollocks

“In all honesty, most trance is e. 95% of the promos I receive are just crap, totally unplayable, generic production and derivative melodies you’ve heard a thousand times before. They might be alright for 16 year old kids who have just graduated up from Lasgo, but not for anyone with at least partially developed taste.”

24 year old British DJ/ producer Gareth Emery is the first to admit the genre he’s most associated with trance, comes with more than a little baggage, though he’s equally happy to defend it to the hilt.

Subtle
In all honesty, you would have to be an idiot to turn down remixing a Britney Spears track.

About the track, i think its quite nice, much better than the other remixes.

GTR - Mistral and "This Is New York" are ing badass, I don't care how much trance I don't listen to these days or how much he's made since then.

Saw him live last year and he was e. Just dropped one moronic massive anthem after another while the crowd fist-pumped in unison. I walked out after 45 minutes.

And if you want to know why I was there at all, I went to see Orkidea who was supporting. And who also played like , it must be said.

really? never seen him play out, but always thought his stuff seemed reasonably ok. Might think twice about seeing him live now.
