There are few constants in life, but Lunar Phase 7 getting shat on from multiple angles for his terrible, terrible taste is one of them. Same time next month, old chap?
You bet.

ing love that tune.

Just another wannabe Armin.

I think its fair to say that the majority of the people in this thread aren't just hating on Gareth, but also the current trance sound? If thats the case, theres really not much that can be done about that, don't expect a trance renaissance to come out of nowhere.
Personally, compared to the other top ranked (yes the polls mean ) trance djs out there, I'd put Gareth second to Markus in terms of how entertaining a set is. Again, I'm not using the dj mag polls as a bench mark to measure djs, but this is just from personal experience. Yes, Gareths sets can afford to cut down on the cheese, but for the most part, they're a good time.I don't show up to a club or festival with the intention of coming home to tranceaddict to nitpick a set, rather I just go out for a good time with friends.
My only gripe with Emery is that he needs to cut the Dirty South remix of Coming Home out of his sets. Its one thing if a song is overplayed, but the song itself is just plain bad.

The other day I posted about Gareth Emery's Britney Spears remix, the reactions where all pretty negative (along with the remix) so his team jump in, I suppose damage limitation and now the post gets deleted.
See how long this one lasts?
I dig this remix!

The thing for me is, he is a decent local type DJ. Plays many mainstream hits that can easily be bought on Beatport or any of your favorite torrents servers. But to be hyped like the second coming is bull when there are DJs out there way more interesting and creative. All his sets are the same. The same tunes pretty much in the same order. And I don't mean for a few weeks, but for months. Like I said, if he was a local DJ playing in your favorite club, closing the night out after someone I could see enjoying his set. The hype plus the manufactured DJ mag position of #7 puts him in a league he is clearly not ready for.

No one said any of that .
He deserves No.7 cause the guy pulls in crowds. He IS commercial, and he's damn good at it.
He plays some great tunes and some tunes, but along the way his productions and dj skill are about as good as it gets.

agreed. so tired of that song. but gareth is not the only one. markus, tiesto, armin, and erick morillo play it to death too. i guess they play it because its in demand and its what people want to hear. but god its such a stupid song, so bland and generic.
Thundersheep
I know this is a Gareth thread, but on the topic of the new sound of trance, have any of you caught an Ashley Wallbridge live set before? I've seen him twice over the past couple years at smaller club gigs and they've both been a couple of my favourite sets from a DJ in that genre. He plays quite similar to Gareth with slightly less cheese (he really needs to stop playing "Walk on Water") and a darker more techy sound... If I had to compare him to other top DJs, he's almost like a mix between Gareth and Markus. I absolutely love his productions as well.

Well I must say I really liked a lot of his productions from 2007-2009. 2010 was decent, but I don't think 2011 is his year. That being said I don't really like vocals much and he has been using them much more recently which should explain it.

Without wishing to kick a hornets' nest; a bunch of my friends are going to see him at MoS tongiht. Marcel Woods is also on...
Only ever liked his track 'Tribalism'. Should I go? :conf:
PS Never been to MoS before, either. Is it a good club?
