Gareth Emery heavies at work! (pg. 5)

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed on the new more popish direction Emery has taken. It's not like he was never that underground, but the latest sugarcoated vocal tracks are a bit too much for me. Even just as recently as 2009, he was one of my favourite producers. "Citadel" was pretty good and I guess Sanctuary is a good popdance track if you take it as one, but I really miss tracks like Another You, Another Me, Formentera What Remix, This is That and Metropolis.

I went to see Gareth Emery in Kansas City last night, and I wish I had listened to some of the reviews that were posted here, I was very disappointed with his set and I left before it was over.

I have never seen a "top DJ" drop so much cheese, I mean, when I saw Ferry Corsten, he would drop one cheesy track every once in a while as well as some great tracks.

Gareth's ratio was more like 9 cheesy, ty Armada vocal tracks with that same stupid vocoderized voice that sounds like to 1 decent track.

His set was totally predictable, he basically just dropped a bunch of anthems like someone had mentioned before, and he did not even play any of his own music.

He played a 2 hour set and I was sick of his at the 1 hour mark, I wonder what it would have been like to hear this guy play a 4 hour set.

In the last 3 months, I saw Armin, Ferry Corsten, and Blake Jerrell like, Gareth Emery was by far the worst!

but we are still little haters, good for nothing, socially inept dweebs that could not find their way out of a paper bag, right?

I loved his January 2008 Essential Mix at the time, but I've cringed anytime I heard something of his recently.

As soon as I heard him drop Above and Beyond- Sun and Moon, I ing left, I hate that song, the vocals are lame, it brought back some bad memories of Armin playing the same lame song, I just pushed people out of the way and made a beeline for the exit door.

Saw him live last year and he was e. Just dropped one moronic massive anthem after another while the crowd fist-pumped in unison. I walked out after 45 minutes.

And if you want to know why I was there at all, I went to see Orkidea who was supporting. And who also played like , it must be said.

Sorry, I made myself look like a fool here, but I have to give SYSTEM-J big props for this review, should have listened to you! I felt exactly the same way, and I never thought I would walk out on him, but I sure did.

I was very disappointed with his performance, too much cheese, lots of massive anthems and the crowd fist pumped in unison also, because they just don't know any better. This guy should not be ranked as high as #7.

I saw Blake Jerrell open for Armin, and although he is not a very well known DJ/Producer yet, his 2 hour set was infinitely better than Gareth's

It's a shame because Emery's podcast usually has some pretty good tracks on it.

in gareth's defense, he did post this on his facebook following the KC show:

Great show Kansas City. Although had huge technical issues. When you're constantly trying to problem solve during set it really affects your performance, so I guess I just wanted to say sorry if anyone thought I was a bit off-form or distracted compared to usual. Am gutted because crowd was AMAZING as was the rest of the venue. If the DJ booth was right it would have been one of the gigs of the year. Goodnight all x

Yeah, it seems those 'technical issues' was with TRACK SELECTION! Yeah, yeah? Am I right? Come on, don't leave me hangin' here, c'mon, give it up. Okay.
