I agree, I saw him at Ministry of Sound in London, he threw anthem after anthem.

He has absolutely no strong tracks behind him to put him in the position he is, unlike say Tiesto who made a string of popular hits like Silence. He has no solid achievements, nothing?

My only conclusion hes one of the new generation that built his career by manipulating the DJ Magazine poll. Thats all he has.
Yes he's chasing the $$$$$ like all the others, easy for them to say in their early days 'all Trance is ', then they do exactly the same and sell out once $$$$ are shown to them.

yeah, sorry i deleted that. i was meant to close it since it was just going to be tonnes of useless posts and unnecessary flaming since the overall reputation of emery around here ever since he said that 95% quote has been negative and since the general consensus is that isn't doing anything to make better stuff. i couldn't care less to be honest.

Regardless if the remix was for Britney Spears or John Digweed, it's appallingly bad.

This just about sums up his (lack of) qualitiy as a DJ; the tracklist from his set at ASOT 500 in Miami at the end of March this year.

02. Yves-V vs. Fred Baker - Start Again
03. Gareth Emery feat. Mark Frisch - Into The Light (ID Remix)

07. Gareth Emery & Jerome Isma-Ae - Stars (Hardwell Remix)
08. Gareth Emery feat. Roxanne Emery - Too Dark Tonight (John O'Callaghan Remix)
09. Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400 (Chris Schweizer Remix)

19. Gareth Emery vs. Delerium feat. Sarah McLachlan - This Is Silence (Myon & Shane 54 Mashup)

Probably needs more mashups.

Eh. I always see that ASOT 500 tracklist brought up in order to judge Gareth's sets, but I'm not sure that it's in any way indicative of what he plays in regular club sets or his Northern Lights concerts. To be honest, I'd probably be pretty peeved if I went to one of his shows and he dropped a set like that. I've seen him live three times (Feb 2010, September 2010, March 2011) and his sets have never disappointed. I've never seen him play anthem after anthem or a bunch of cheesy vocals tracks one after another. Every time I've seen him he's played extremely high energy sets keeping the crowd dancing and completely engaged from start to finish.

I won't deny that he doesn't play some cheese in every set, but he's nowhere near as bad as a set from say... Armin, who would rather have the crowd standing there with their arms in the air for 40% of his sets.

he actually played this the other night, i barely noticed the vocals tho.....

anyone know the name of his new track with ashley wallbridge?

If you have the balls why don't you simply slate him on twitter ...

simples twitter is more effective
SYSTEM-J
Yeah, because he's really going to give a about a few criticisms on Twitter. May as well post it here where you can actually discuss the subject with other people.

I saw him at glow a few years ago, at the time I didn't know who he was. I am really really bad at remembering names and haven't really maintained a proper music collection since the demise of audiogalaxy.

But I actually had a great time, then I found his podcast thing, Dare I say it? I think I've become a fan.

I learned a long time ago to ignore the drama and heresay that surrounds club people in general, even if its true, it only kills the buzz.

unrelated: holy I'm registered july 2001, this means this is my 10th year with this place, I suddenly feel old.
freakster
is gareth emery the one who played that horrific set on at asot broadcast from wmc this year?

I saw him a couple weeks ago and he was awesome.

You guys need to look at yourselves... you all sound like a bunch of hipster dweebs. Get your panties out of bunches and stop hating on the top DJ's... they are at the top for a reason whether you want to admit it or not.

I mean seriously...

I've been listening to trance for 15 years... I've seen it change all sorts of ways and I have to say I have no complaints with where it is at now... which is to say a nice blending of house / prog / trance / electro into one tapestry of music.
