this isnt the 50s, its every day reality. And yes, if there werent such a strong gender binary, which maintains a tradition of basic disrespect, this wouldnt be the reality but it is, for a while yet. This thread is narrow in its discussion, its about how men treat women, so my response is also within this narrowed topic

"Disrespect"? Sure, touching a woman is bang out of order, but since when is looking at someone (lustfully or not) a sign of disrespect? Unless, of course, you're talking about the stuff blokes say/do to your girlfriend which you haven't yet mentioned... because I don't know what that could be, I can't really say anything about it. |
