| Seriously, when two guys go into confrontation mode all I can think of are a couple of gorillas facing off in the highlands, beating their chests. |

| Maybe because we're accustomed to believing that matters of consequence, and the physical confrontations they supposedly warrant, pertain only to men, resulting in fights between women being mere visual amusements. |

that is the implication. femininity is in general relegated to frivolity. even some feminists see classical 'feminine' expressions as frivolous. whereas I think the key is to own that kind expression and challenge the notion that it is inherently frivolous.
edit:
It's worth mentioning though that when it comes to marketing, especially to women, masculinity is presented as frivolous. |

it's the same double standard you see if men fight it's somehow about honor, but if women fight it's automatically "OMGCATFIGHT!!!", something to be laughed at. |
No, both fight over honor, its just females seem to have their honor scorned more deeply than men do.
Women just tend to hold grudges a lot longer and not use any sort of logic to maybe reassess the situation at a later point. |

It's not "automatically" anything. If two girls are having a fight where real physical damage is being inflicted, it'll be broken up as quickly as possible. And then I've seen men have pathetic cat fights that were the source of much mirth. Prosaic fact is most girls can't fight, and it's quite funny to watch an incredibly emotional and serious activity where neither of the participants have a ing clue what they're doing. |

| No, when one person knows how to fight and the other doesn't, that isn't funny. That's brutal. |
