Black and Blue 2011 reviews... (pg. 3)

in the house room dformation, vibe, rosabel, hernan rocked... enough said!

in the trance room I really liked JOC, Offset and Leon Bolier's set. Lasers were cool too. Jen (VJ Video Girl) was a great booking for that room, she really brought it to life with her graphics.

Deco wise, yes, I agree it's very cheap. Sound wasn't that good too. And although the venue looked amazing on camera (which is good for me hehe) I found the bathrooms, sound acoustics, general venue stuff, were not up to par.

Which brings me to a totally different rant: THE OLYMPIC STADIUM. What the happened to this building? HUGE cracks in the cement, a falling roof, that ghetto ass tunnel where the portopotties were (sttttinnnnkkyyyy). Who the was responsible for building this? A bunch of mafioso construction companies? It's hideous and an eye sore. TEAR IT DOWN! But I digress...

BBCM does a great job with the money they work with. They are not a super rich company and in my opinion they do just fine with what they have. Of course they can't put on a rave like Tribe did at AMC a few years back. It's impossible. Tribe had unlimited $$$ with no need to recoup this money for future events. This is not the case with BBCM who want to continue throwing this party. They've expanded with the trance room which will continue to attract a younger audience and they booked a solid house room, regardless of MA who although wasn't horrible really messed up the flow between Vibe and D-Formation. It should've been Rosabel MA Vibe D-FOrmation, etc.

Overall, everyone I spoke with had a great time. Yes I found there to be more gays than last year but this started off as a gay rave in the first place. Straight people have to understand this and respect that we have to share the dance floor.

A short video I took of D-Formation:

not from montreal and sure about what the place is used for these days besides black and blue but i know the expo's used to play there but they havent been there in a while so if nothing else is really going on there is lil or no matience being kept on it

as i was leaving i saw all the food concession stands looked outdated as well as just the whole decor to modern stadiums

it is a neat lookin stadium from the outside but the interior def needs a make-over ha ha

1) I know I know it's a Stadium. But not impressed with the sound. I had to wear ear plugs everytime I entered the trance room. Were they expecting more people to be there to absorb the sound? Couldnt hear any vocals. I finally found the right spot towards the end of the night where the sound wasn't boucing back and forth on every piece of cement there lol.

2) Great LED visuals in the trance room. The Black Mohawks dancers are cool.

3) Loved the 1-hr sets. The best idea ever. No DJ had time to up lol. And props for making it happen - I can't imagine the work it takes to book more than 14-15 DJs and make it all work with their agents, transportation, flights, etc

3) F*ck you Mark Anthony.

4) DJ Vibe = solid

5) I saw 6,000 and 8,000 people mentionned in the news today. Who cares the number, it looked full in both room. And this year the trance room was packed even passed 9am.

6) Dirty and smelly bathrooms, I don't understand why people were chilling in front of them lol, but it's true there were no other "quieter" areas if one wanted to save its ears from bleeding.

7) The VIP sections sucked.

8) It's a gay event, get over it. Don't expect any bright lights in the house room!

9) Please dont turn Black & Blue into another Bal en Blanc where muscle men and fake boobs take over - let it be a more underground, dirty party, it's good to have this choice in Montreal.

10) And finally, I had a great time. Period.

I read somewhere that the dismantling costs would be in the millions so they are just doing patchwork. It's funny, if you google the list of the most expensive stadiums in the world, Olympic is near the top but the other stadiums are state of the art and brand new.

The CFL Alouettes have their playoff games in there, they get close to 60,000 for those games so I guess the building is still safe hehe

Nothing against gays...but I'm assuming that he was referring to more than just men making out with each other (which happens on th dancefloor all the time anyway). Gay or not, some things are just best kept private, no?

I have never been to Black & Blue because its always in my university exams period (I heard so many good things about it) but its true Bal en Blanc was sooo packed of roids men and fake boobs. It was even difficult to find a cute normal girl. My gf and friends from outside canada were telling me "do they all look like bitches in Mtl?"

No of course no but it was not a good representation haha. Also the vibe went really better passed a certain hour like past 8am, I guess same for B&B.

I see some of you havent change :)

Black and Blue was insane.

Yes there is a piece of room that fell on my friend's head. Blood everywhere but he is very lucky, mostly flesh wound.

The sound, they couldnt do anything about it. There is already specific places where they could put the speakers.

Deco wise, Trance room got their budget cut at the last second. Still had amazing lasers.

Toilets, thank god for VIP upstairs.

Thank god for AC on the VIP stage.

Thank god for an amazing crowd (didnt venture in the house room).

Security was awesome and did their job.

DJs were awesome, dont feel like reviewing every single one of them... but mad props to Hollow Earth.

6$ for a bottle of water, I hate you.

Price was very good for the size and quality of the event.

Enough said
