The big monotheisms are all pretty stupid. Islam is the worst of them, followed by Christianity and then Judaism.

The other religions have their share of stupidity, too, but pretty minor in comparison to those three.

Just watched it. It was well made documentary, I don't think it's suggestive either. Near the end it seemed like they were going for a giant ad hitlerum but fortunately they nuanced it shortly after.

The basic point seems to be to put things in perspective by showing the world of atheism is not free of dogma's. And delves into some of the excesses. Like anti-theistic fundamentalism and social-darwinism. You can call it straw manning, but he does take the time to talk with the people who advocate these things, as well as showing that they can be directly related to atheistic principles.

Basically, a lot of it comes down to the liberal employment of false dilemmas on the atheist's side and also putting the scientific method in a position it's not comfortable with.
As it states, atheism is believing in a negative. It employs science as it's driving force. But science cannot cannot proof that something isn't there, that's a paradox. Darwin is employed as a makeshift messiah, but his theory only challenges the religious principles of human exceptional-ism and intelligent design. this is were the false dilemma comes from in many an atheists' argumentation.
Being a theist doesn't automatically mean you're advocating abrahamistic religions. Religion is a different beast all together, more akin to an ideology of which there is no defending.
I think Srussel is right here. This is a prime exemple:

As D-res already explained. It makes no sense having evidence for a lack of faith.

It's exactly the same as if someone came up to me and said "There is a dragon living in my garage." In that case it would be perfectly rational for me to say "Prove it, or else i won't believe you." Its not me who has to prove that i don't believe it. That makes absolutely no sense.

Atheism isn't claiming there can be no gods. Its a lack of being convinced by theists claims.
A proper analogy would be "I believe there is a dragon in my garage." You can't disproof a belief, regardless of how irrational it is.
You're response would turn into something different:
"Prove it, or else i won't believe your belief."

This is why agnosticism is a more elegant solution.

what the is all this griping about? christianity? and their mortal (moral? lol) enemy science?

if you haven't investigated the history of religion yet - :wtf:

lemme spell it out for you quickly, because this forum inspires disgust in me =)
moses = akhenaten
jesus christ = julius caesar
jehovah = Enlil/jupiter/zeus (hey, zeus!) (Jove is pronounced Yohway, by the ve)
Satan = Enki/Prometheus/Quetzalcoatl

it's a bunch of bull, aiite? go read something other than the bible.

now go figure out how to enter the astral realms.

Uhh, if you believe that there is a dragon in your garage, then you believe the assertion "there is a dragon in my garage." What the atheist does is simply ask, "Okay, why do you believe that there is a dragon in your garage?" And if the answers to that question are irrational, flimsy, or simply nonexistent, where does that leave the dragon assertion? Atheism is not about disputing whether people believe what they say they do, but why they believe it.

My argument isn't that atheism is wrong, just that most atheists are annoying.

Correct, but i was trying to approach it from a different angle. His belief and your belief are unrelated. You're acting as if you're supposed to be convinced by him.
