I dont think it's a very good idea to share my point of view, but oh well!
I have to be honest with you all, the last few years saw me completely losing my passion and interest for "trance" and it's sub genres.
In fact many of you might have noticed that I stopped releasing stuff for months with sporadic releases and remixes eventually coming up.
Fortunately enough J00F brought my interest back. On the other hand the guys from mistique, MSZ,CJ art, Ben suffused, kayd, hypnotic duo, Dsp, aggressor, ivan nikusev, loquai, Mateo, and all the others showed me the truth. Kintar proved me wrong.
Trance isn't dead at all. But...
Trance as it is called today has mostly nothing to do with what got me into it. That's normal, I was utilized by some of those trance superstars who completely rule the scene today, and people with this kind of mentality aim at only one thing: money, fame, trophies.
Just like many others disappeared, we feel frustrated, jilted, abused.
I think you got my point. True Trance strikes back. But forget those muppets around, just focus on the music.

Think there's still plenty of 'True To Trance' material out there, just need to know where to look. Cause of the fact most 'big jocks' don't play it, it kinda gets overlooked somehow...

yes indeed but not only that.
it's gonna take us years to clean the crowd's ears so they understand what this music means again. They got used to the pop sounds in the clubs, they don't even know their classics.
I feel hugely responsible for bastardizing something that was pure magic after all. So now it's become my duty to inform people about this fact.
I had a terrible fight with a crowd a few weeks back: playing leama's "melodica" got NO reaction at all! Meanwhile the 8741th cheesy remix of Silence got them screaming like never before. I can't blame those people though. They don't know what feelings and taste are anymore. My bad.
These are really frustrating times, but I think we're almost at the end of the tunnel.

You are frustrated now. Remember when I wrote frustrating replies to you a couple of years. I remember that I mentioned even back then that I hoped that I wasn't pleased with the path that Bonzai took after the reformation.

Still I don't think that trilogique was a mistake. But I understand your concern.

If people were only in it for the music then all this commercialism wouldn't be as widespread as it is !!
Yet harsh reality of the music industry is about making as much in the shortest time possible ..
And some big names pushed for the trance scene to become commercial which we saw utterly e crap being labelled as trance flooding the charts . And generations then seeing that as trance ..
And not forgetting unknown names looking to get a name they remix a obvious track because it's the easiest way to get ur name outhere and noticed .
Years ago it wasn't as frowned upon like it is now ..
And when we saw festival after festival continually book the same names ..whilst those in the Goa/psy scene were ignored and years later when those that were into the commercial trance .. looked for something new .. guess what Goa/psy .
Because the scene they grew up with was falling on it's arse in terms of quality of productions
And i do remember the ignorance by some who slated that genre

yea it still boggles my mind why dont alot of dj's support the actual emotional/epic/melodic/uplifting stuff, it gets pushed to the side by almost everyone these days...they are to me thats what trance is all about
it's funny on asot armin's last 45 min isent too bad he plays some quality stuff once in a while, but then you see his live gig's and it's just pure cheese...a man of his position has soooooo many fans and could take a stand, support good trance music and bring back trance music to the masses as he once did but instead he chooses to be a pop star

speaking of armin and airwave it's funny i still listen to this track all the time that armin and airwave teamed up for, yet almost 10 years later armin wouldnt be caught dead playing it again

Yeah, I can understand your point! :)
Especially emotion and melody are key elements when it comes to trance if you ask me!! So many tracks these days don't have that anymore, but they still dare to call it trance for some reason... :rolleyes: It's more a combi of styles, if you actually want to put a label on it.

leama - melodica, is exactly the type of track that should be played in clubs and events in my opinion. It reminds me a bit of this "rave" sound. raves were banned here a long time ago, due to the rave act and big pressure from politicians, i believe this had a profound effect here, it opened the floodgates to the commercial pop events we see now.
what we have here is nothing usually nothing special, spiritual, or even when it comes to trance, or progressive. all is fun, but i do not cherish this type of pop stuff at all. at least we have one promoter who books j00f and yourself i believe airwave. here we need the magic and mystical back in music, but its a highly sensitive matter then there is subjectivity. looking forward to the many years ahead and i hope the artists i love now do not quit or will be forced to.
when i see someone like kay-d, who has a growing family and such, he is very inspiring to see him keep producing. he is a master no doubt about it. anyway, i find myself going back to the past more and more because they contain the elements i was describing very nicely : ).
