Don't forget the bikers. A massive force behind the scene, without whom Montreal's afterhours scene would not exist on the scale that it does. People don't like to admit it, but it is reality.

Many many DJ's have told me that Montreal is always one of their favorite gigs in the WORLD, not only north america....
We love MTL

thank you. i always wanna say this and a certain someone always begs me not to.
just another example of how corrupt this province is.

i agree, djs have told me this too.
but do you really expect them to say anything other than that? come on...
they say it to every resident dj, every talent booker, every promoter, in every city, in every club they gig in. it's called being nice, with a splash of generic professionalism (and it's fake as hell) hehehe...imagine if they were honest all the time? they wouldn't have gigs! who wants to book a dj that has been honest (which some ppl see as talking ) about your club?
i'm not trying to discount montreal at all here, but what i said is 10 million percent true.

trust me i know...i wish other people would pick up on this. it's not a taboo subject, get over yourselves. i guess that for some people in the industry, it opens up a huge can of worms...justifying budgets, where $ is coming from, etc...anyways, everything is corrupt here in quebec! even the dance industry, sadly...
check this vid out to illustrate my point of how our priorities are really not what they should be here...kinda off topic, but funny as hell...
lmaooooo...les taxes sont chers, le gaz y'est cher...les ponts pis les routes sont toutes ees hahahahaha!

@ erika: i get your point, but comon, i don't think Alex Bau, Erphun, Brian Sanhaji have to be nice and generic with me ;-) I talk with them on a regular basis. They certainly don't have to bull me. They go out of their ways to come and play in Montreal. It is actually Alex Bau's favorite gig (hell he even released a live @ aria cd!)
Spin Laden
Pacha NY still have hip hop on top floor? :p

it's called doing what it takes to keep getting work

The majority of DJs are doing just that because it's an essential component of getting gigs. However, there are some who are, in addition to the above, being genuine. Most promoters don't care as long as they can RT kudos, but there are some (a much smaller subset) who respect honesty.

many say they can play anything and that Montrealers are generally receptive to the music compared to others, plus the dancefloor is still busy well into the night/morning.
Only thing wrong with Montreal from what I can see are some promoters running the edm vibe into the ground, not all but a couple. Other than that, the city rocks.

oh absolutely, i mean just regular DJs that aren't your personal friends :) sorry, i should have made that clearer.
