shitty people leave shitty tips - especially if you're a banker (pg. 2)

The waiters/waitresses get paid a reasonable wage in England, compared to those in the states, and we generally only tip if we feel the service and/or food is worthy of it.

If the food is great and the service is at least adequate, the standard tip is around 10%, perhaps more.

Some clever tip jars.

Tips are based on service besides retial cost of items so my system

Restaurant: 15% average, Horrible service less, or incredible service 20%+

Valet: $2 to 5$. If want your own spot and to hold on your own key show the 5$ or more up front.

Bars: 1$ or 2$ per drink.

Note: I don't beleive in the tip included for the final amount on the bill. Thats not right. I see suggested amounts(15,20,25%) ok but don't do that because how do they know the service was what I had. I will not leave your asked amount with my signature!

got off topic...

What I don't understand is if he said "get a real job" to the waiter then who would of served him? If he gets his own meal from a fast food place there is no tipping involved so would of he been happier doing that then being served in a nice place which usual high end people expect.

20% is standard. 15% for bad service, 30% for exceptional service.

15% is standard if you're a pleb.

This is our standard.

15% on top of 15% of taxes on top of expensive food, is a very generous tip.

I usually tip a pretty large amount, especially if the service was good. I can most certainly afford to cough up a bit more for my food, especially considering most people who work as servers probably really need the money.

Telling them to "get a better job" is just inane. Especially when you don't even know the person.

Totally Im-Promtu Service.

Indeed, Alfi is right.

By the way, 15%!? Here we're required to tip 10% (yeah, there's a law, although you can choose not to pay if the service sucks) and most people I know already find it outrageous!

I say just pay the staff more and be done with tipping. I would rather pay a little more for my food and let the wait staff have normal minimum wage.

So you think the people who hand deliver your food to your table while you quiver so slightly in anticipation of shoveling it into your gaping maw deserve nothing more than minimum wage?
