Taken from the southern ontario forum...wow
| quote: | Paramedics have confirmed that a man in his 30s is dead after a shooting in an ice cream cafe in Little Italy, as people flocked to the neighbourhood to watch a Euro Cup soccer match between Italy and Ireland. Police said callers reported multiple gunshots at The Sicilian Sidewalk Café at 712 College St., near Ossington Avenue, around 3:30 p.m. Police confirmed that two people were shot. One man, who appeared to be in his 30s, was wheeled from the store on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing at least five shots. One witness told CP24 that he saw a man, who appeared to be dressed as a construction worker, enter the cafe's packed patio and open fire. The man was wearing a white mask and possibly a while hardhat, witnesses said. The witness said the shooting appeared to be targeted and the victim was shot in the head. Broken glass littered the street outside the shop, and police pushed people away from the scene and taped off a large part of the block. The road was closed to traffic between Crawford Street and Grace Street.
The shooting took place as Little Italy's restaurants and bars were packed with spectators watching Italy play Ireland during a Euro Cup soccer match. In fact, cheers could be heard from nearby bars as police investigated at the crime scene. Shortly before 4 p.m., police said that no one had been arrested and they didn't yet have a description of the suspect.
Two local schools, Montrose Junior Public School and Delta Alternative Senior School, were placed on a hold and secure after the shooting, meaning the doors were locked and students and staff had to remain inside. Toronto District School Board spokesperson Ryan Bird said most of the students had already been dismissed for the day, but anyone still there was being kept inside until police told them that the neighbourhood was safe. They lifted the hold and secure near 4:30 p.m. The Toronto Public Library's College Shaw branch was also placed on lockdown. |

It was an alright game even through Spain are becoming kind of a boring team to watch due to their emphasis on the technical aspect of the game (still a very talented team imo). Hopefully Germany will beat them because that's what I forsee for the final but still looking forward to the England vs Italy game and the stellar semi-final between Spain and Portugal. Can't wait to see Ronaldo sent home crying and whining like usual.
PS: I'm so sick of people who know nothing about football and who only watch the world cup/euro "just because every one else is doing it", and start making statements and judgement calls assuming they know everything about the sport. |

france really ed that up with the defensive error from the first Spanish goal but at least it was a competitive match. Laurent Blanc has nothing to be ashamed of (except some of the individual performances turned in by the squad...*ahem* Malouda). time to clean house and come back stronger... theres a great team buried underneath.
all credit to spain...i just hope they don't win it again. cheering for the underdogs (England or Portugal) |

Have to agree with this. Spain have good technical skill, and great first touch control throughout the team, but France were kind of crap and Spain didn't look that amazing.
The only team that looks in a league of their own is Germany right now, so even if England get past italy (which could very well happen) I just don't see them beating Germany. |

If we go by statistics THIS SPAIN is the best European football team of all time... I think Spain is boring to all of us just because we expect a lot from them on every single game. Last 2 games were very boring indeed however that doesn't take away the solid game this team displays.
Also that Italy vs. England game is the type of match that I've been waiting for. :gsmile: |
