I see the sarcasm, but it's you that's missing something. Changing the rules changes how popularity, and (particularly) marketing influence the poll. |

So you manage to prove the DJMag Poll is nothing more than a glorified popularity contest. Then what? Hope the following poll has a credible list instead, based on skill and actual talent? It hasn't had such a list for over half a decade now, and won't change just because a legion on trance fans were ticked off at seeing pop house acts taking over the top.
Yeah, it's fun to troll popularity contests, but the DJ Mag Poll is big business, and isn't going to be deterred by disgruntled former subscribers (they sure as hell weren't when people were complaining about Tiesto's 3-year reign). If you're looking to 'retake DJing credibility' (or whatever), it'll be a grass-roots thing, a proper underground movement that doesn't draw attention to itself.
RA's annual poll sort of has the right idea, in that you don't see nearly the same amount of promotion going into that one, and as a result tends to have more respectable results (though they're beginning to tread ever-so close to the edge with that). |

I think you're missing something as well. Intelligence. Go sit in the corner and think about it really hard. Well while you're entitled to your opinion, I have to disagree. And I should add that a significant number of people would also disagree with you - 500 unique page views in about 6 hours, and starting to spread on twitter.
If credibility is shaken significantly through this, they'll need to do something, and if they happen to change it for the better, happy days. Has to be better than sitting in front of your screen pontificating. |

I currently have one of the worlds top experts in machine learning liaising with his associate professors - chemist and biologist - to bring to market two products. One of which is for a market that doesn't even exist yet. He's also in talks with some of his former computer science students, in order for them to develop the algorithms required to develop 6 or 7 other sites I'm launching. With a couple of them being in markets that don't exist yet.
I don't think I need any of you to deem me intelligent ;) |
