Yeah personally I loved all the different tents and their displays. All the different DJ's got to do some cool stuff with their backgrounds. Also it was so nice being able to vibe protected from the sun. The people spraying the pressure washers were nice too. Those tents got HOT.

Also loved you could spend $3 on a bottle of water and then free refills all day. I switched between a Gatorade and water. I think I had one beer all weekend trying to stay hydrated.

yea the sunday school stage was actually very very cool and unique.
last years was super super dull. but imo the size of the stage is still TOO DAMN SMALL lol. compared to the other tents year after year it still remains to be the smallest one. upgrade that
the sound and lighting were cool tho
i didnt really go into any other tents just walked by but they seemed to be decked out.
good sound in sunday school tho
really good food this year and lots of it, i didnt see a picnic area tho so i had to eat on the grass which was cool since it was a nice day

overall strobe i agree with probly everything you said. i dont think its cause were getting older, the newer generation is just more drug/commercial music oriented than our generation.

another reason i feel the line-up lacked and was more geared toward those people was edc took away alot of their business. since all the artists at edc were under contract made had to find other ones to fill the slot. no carl cox, hawtin, loco dice, diggers,vc,markus etc etc

next years line-ups between edc and ezoo will def be interesting, i expect higher prices lol

overall the crowd def did suck balls, but next year if the line-up is still somewhat solid i will go. i did my best to avoid the neon crowd (which was hard cause they're soo damm bright lol) but i avoided them and focused on spending time with my friends and enjoying the good music they did have there

todays line-up just looks like dog tho imo
thief
went on Friday only for Luciano (A&B next door was awesome too but it's not why I came)

what a ty sound system at the sunday schoool. trance tent blows it away. Luciano did not play the Ibiza Ushuaia set as I was awaiting for many of gems from this summer. which was disapppointing but still a killer set.

its tough to find his podcasts or live sets on the internet and honestly his music is best heard live, on the beach of playa den bossa, with best sound system and in the world and awesome crowd

PS
outside of some older sets on soundcloud, this one looks awesome and blows away the poor school bus away ) not to hate, i guess my expectations where way high

Agreed, definitely I think it was the coolest of the three tent setups. Above and Beyonds set Friday night in the Hilltop tent was phenomenal though.

The only one I saw was nestled between Hilltop and Sunday School. There were a few tables and whatnot.

I really would like to know if Insomniac really caught Made sleeping so badly that they signed all those artists like that under their nose. I hope prices don't go up too much, but I guess we'll see.

The one thing I noticed is there was a lot less of that Friday than there was Saturday. I dunno if maybe it was because I was nowhere near the Main Stage Friday or there was just less overall people between the two days.

Agreed. There are a couple people I would've checked out, but I'm just too damn tired lol.

I have gone each year since 2009 and this one was my last. Here's some general thoughts I have for tonight...I'll post a full review later on.

-Crowd outside of Sunday School was just god awful...a bunch of kids wearing a bunch of neon/frat gear/etc etc just wanting to "rage" and "do molly", talk about how sick EDC was and how they are saving up for [insert major EDM festival name here]

-Lots of irresponsible and blatant/public drug use. Drug use was far, far more apparent than in past years imo.

-All the headlining DJs played the same songs or variation of songs (If I hear a ing Gotye remix one more time...)

-Tiesto is a JOKE. wow.

-Made has outgrown Randall's Island for this event. Uncomfortably crowded. The place felt bursting at the seams.

-Sound bleed for tent to tent was AWFUL. During breakdowns in Sunday School you could CLEARLY hear the melodies and basslines from the neighboring tents, for example. This is a direct result of putting too much in such a small space.

-Production in Sunday School seemed half assed compared to the other two tents with lasers, cryo jets, etc. Also, sound was not as great as in the past

-Sunday School VIP was EMPTY all weekend except for Sunday evening. Sounds like this was not as successful as Made had hoped for?

-Free water stations were awesome and efficiently run

-Great food selection

-Efficient and friendly staff

-Ferries were always prompt and timely. Well run.

-Plenty of restrooms, lines moved quickly

Anybody have a track ID on this monster uplifter from A&B Friday? Really big track!

on friday, i left work at 11am, headed to penn station to hit the island

coming in on some train i saw a bunch of neon, a few girls that looked too young to be dressed like that, in the back was a one of the lagging behind guys

as the neon dispersed a bit i was able to see the guy behind the girls walking with them, his neon tank top saying was apparent to me. he was about 250lbs, probably in his early 20s, white male, he had candy beads on one arm from his wrist until about his forearm on his right arm, he had a matching neon headband and big basketball shorts on

his neon yellow tank top read 'let's get weird'

i said to myself, thank god i'm not going to ezoo

feel free to formulate thoughts and post here

Yesterday was just a carryover from Saturday. A few REALLY good acts sprinkled in though. Umek was AWESOME, as was Dixon. Dixon was a really nice surprised and I'm really surprised they put him on at the late time that they did, as he's not as big as, say, the types of artists that would play at 7pm in previous years... Kinda a sign of the mediocrity of the lineup I guess, although that does nothing to take away from what I thought was a very good Dixon set..

Then, it happened. The planets aligned in the way I never would have wanted them to. And for a brief 30 minutes or so during the first half of Boys Noize's set, it happened. The "Neon Nation" took over. Dirty electro, breakbeats, dubstep, etc., was playing at all 4 stages. I know because I seeked shelter and refuge and couldn't find it. If you didn't like how Boys Noize started his set, your other options were Zeds Dead's dubstep tent, Excision's dubstep tent, and Tiesto playing the absolutely most nightmarish set one of his old fans could ever walk into. It reaffirmed my fears that this particular festival was over for me; we'd worn out our welcome.

So I went to the beer stand near Sunday School and pounded some delicious Captain Lawrences (which is now one of the best IPAs I've ever had), and things changed a tad bit for the better. Boys Noize got out of the electro ditch he had dug himself in. The "Neon Nation" dispersed from the Sunday School tent and ventured out into their world of Tiesto and Bloody Beetroots. I started seeing more smiles and happy faces, less "molly molly molly" t-shirts, and the music followed suit with what can usually be expected in Sunday School. Boys Noize then played "Dub Track" which is always a favorite around these parts and the rest of his set was really quality stuff; he turned it around.

And then, Marco Carola came. And he absolutely blew my mind out. Completely stone cold sober at that point, it just felt right to venture back into the middle of the tent during Carola's set, and he played arguably one of the top 3 sets all weekend. I was curious how he'd follow up Boys Noize, or if he had the energy that some of the other closers had in years past (Digweed, Tenaglia, Hawtin). What I found out was, he did. He played what probably was one of my top 5 sets of the year, and the vibe was incredible. The tent was packed, and the vibe was at its highest moment of happiness and positivity that I'd seen all festival long. Tiesto, Skrillex, and Diplo scared away all the really nice and cool people into Carola's tent, and he took them and punched them around with some unforgettable techno tunes. When you spend the whole weekend in Sunday School, some of the sets start to be "really good" or "pretty good", and it's hard for one DJ to rise up and take the cake, but he did it. I've seen him a few times and this was the one that has made me a HUGE Marco Carola fan going forward. Hope to see him get bigger and better because he rocked a lot of people's worlds, who were around me.

As for Tiesto, no further comment than this: his old music will always have a special place for me in my hard drive and CD collection. But he is part of the problem. His name is dead to me; when I looked at him on stage, it wasn't really him, he's not Tiesto, should have changed his name.. Guetta had a more enjoyable set than he did.

I was so bored on Sunday besides Umek and Marco. I expected that though. Umek absolutely killed it though what a great set. Really enjoyed Marco's too but I was wiped out by that point.

Ok but seriously half this thread is bitching about the crowd and yeah, they sucked. Was that a surprise or something? How many threads need to rehash this circlejerk? It's going to be like this for awhile. I think all the s wearing sex drugs and dubstep shirts are annoying too but that didn't detract from how great Umek was yesterday.

I made a bunch of bracelets for zoo because I like crafting and I think they are fun to make and I like giving gifts to people. I was wearing bright turquoise shorts the first day. If that makes me some kind of I don't give a . I like good music and I eat breathe and sleep it.

Overall, this wasn't the best zoo but I still had a good time. I do hope in the future they aim for more diversity. I honestly think the scene blew up so quickly it might tire quickly as well if the same 10 djs continue to rotate every festival playing the same songs. Until then I will stay at a tent that makes me happy and ignore all the other crap.
