Pretty much agree with what everybody already said in this thread.
I felt like I didn't belong in that festival, except for the sunday tent. Weird.
Friday Jaytech/Bayer was awesome (i got too late to the island to catch Zack) and then I stayed in the Sunday Tent (i checked out Ferry for a second, shook my head and left). Everybody was pretty good.
I felt underwhelmed by Luciano's set. I expected a lot better.
Saturday Got too late to catch Eco's set but I caught ending of Sleepy & Boo's. They played freaking great and set the mood right
Frank & Tony's pizza (Andrew lol) was ummmm...yeah slow
I was dragged out to Sander for a second and I came back rushing.
Maya was cool, Paco just ing started owning everybody, I loved it.
Sasha's track selection was good, but his mixing was weird. Maybe it was me...
I caught lil bit of A&B and quickly rushed back to witness Body Bag destruction that King Liebing Delivered. ed our ears without any lube.
Sunday caught the ending of better lost than stupid and they were pretty good.
Umek got on and banged it out properly. Brought plenty of energy to the tent and had everybody smiling.
Aparrat started with X-Press 2 - Kill 100 (Carl Craig Remix) which was a huge huge surprise to me. Dixon was pretty cool too, although I would've liked a higher energy set.
and then WTF happened. Boys Noize. The sea of neon kids swarmed the sunday tent and pushed everybody out.
There were few decent tracks in there, but nothing that would make me venture inside.
Marco came on and all was good. Smiles all around, people dancing and a really banging set by him.
The water station was a great idea + a lot more bathrooms were added this year. |

Not really debating that he is or is not on their level as a DJ or in production skill. He absolutely is.
8 hour sets at Blkmarket don't really typify the closer for Electric Zoo; if anything, you're proving my point. Wighnomy Brothers headlined Blkmarket parties and played for 16-20 hours, but it would be a pleasant surprise to see them headlining the closing set in Sunday School.
Just saying, it was a pleasant surprise to see him as the last act and he completely owned it. I guess the best comparison to this would be like seeing Markus Schulz CLOSING OUT main stage at Zoo, but not Armin van Buuren. See what I'm saying? Popular, yes, big, yes, but not what you'd expect, and a pleasant surprise.. |
Not really trying to debate. I am just use to Marco being the headliner at events that I go to. He was typically the closer or headliner at Sunday School in Miami. Most festivals that we go to Marco closes the tent he plays.
Any way the important part is that you have an even better appreciation for him. :) |

| can we please not associate these techno names with festivals, i do not want to bring awareness and draw the NEW crowd I'm thoroughly content with the fanbase as it is |

| all I am saying is these kids better shift down a gear or two. Or this physiological impact from this new music needs to clam down a bit. I don't like where EDM is heading. |

I thought Better Lost than Stupid and Apparat delivered some nice sets on Sunday for the more niche/devoted EDM followers. Nice tech house belters for the Tanzmann/Buttrich/Squillace teamup and Apparat was all over the place, from melodic postdub, to funky house (Julio Bashmore - Au Seve), in a good way!
I don't really mind the 'neon kids' too much, when I first got into electronic music, it was by way of stuff like EBTG's Missing, Livin Joy's Dreamer, Real McCoy, etc. What will happen is those who are serious about the music will want to find more, and those who were only in it as a fad will just fall off when the music declines in mainstream cachet.
My biggest disappointment though was when Netsky dropped Ripgroove and nobody was dancing!
Most played "good" song was probably Au Seve, and most overplayed songs at the festival were that stupid "You blocked me on Facebook!" song and that new Daddy's Groove song. |

These kids are freaking crazy... Can't imagine molly or whatever making me want to do or listen to half the these kids are ABSOLUTELY RAGING over for 10 hours straight with no breaks.. Maybe PCP or crack might do the trick.. But yeah, I guess we're biased (or old)? |

I can go 8-10 hours easy as long as the music is good, and without drugs. , I can even do it while smoking pot the whole time if the music is THAT good. At Digweed/Tenaglia @ Governor's I was dancing non-stop for 8 hours straight. It's all in the tunes... |

Didn't go this year, but was in the car a lot over the weekend and listened to a bunch of sets on Sirius. Outside of ECO and Arnej, which I both really enjoyed, most of what I heard was brutally generic.
Maybe it's just me, but two things annoyed the out of me. First, every DJ getting on the mic and screaming for New York to "Make Some ing Noise." I must have heard it 50 times. Secondly, what douche started the trend of getting on the mic and announcing to the crowd they were about to play their new track or remix? Guetta, Hardwell, Aoki... all of them would do it not once, but repeatedly throughout. Yeah , I know this is your song because it sucks, you don't have to scream it. |

Thanks to all of you who made it out for my set on Saturday, it means a lot!! I had a blast, it was a real special afternoon for me, even though they had the volume and bass levels turned way down, a la background music (which was a bummer).
