Okay, I've been away for a week so I'll try and group-reply to some of this. Thanks to anybody who listened who I don't respond to directly.

Yeah, I was very impressed by the originality and inventiveness a lot of these tracks possess. While I couldn't really put a name to this style, it definitely feels contemporary and upfront, rather than just a 2012 update of classic neurofunk manoeuvres.

That would be Descent & Halogen - Suspention.

have to say,
to just dive in and make a mix of something you don't know is commendable. This is what a dj should be. Someone that loves music. Great work. I am pretty well versed in neurofunk and this type of music and I didn't feel like you were just playing how do you say , the chart top 20.

Thanks a lot, that's very meaningful praise to me. I couldn't just dive in like this for any style of music - I need to be excited by what I find, and it was just an absolute pleasure to find out about some totally new music while making this mix. |

Listened to this a whole ton of times lately, it's driving but not to the point where it's constantly beating you over the face with hard/rawness. There's some great stuff here, with some nice catchy melodies. Mixing is absolutely flawless too.
songs @ 21 and 30 minutes = incredible |

| Thanks man, glad you liked it. 21 minutes is Mass Media mixing into Ultrasonik. The track at 30 minutes is Sanctuary. |

So I liked this, and it was very well put together and mixed as to be expected, but overall it just reminded me of why I got bored of drum n' bass and quit when trying to put together my own mix.
Great mix, but not my favorite from you, mainly because I'm just not a fan of this sound. Specifically, that "chainsaw-y" style of bassline. |

Yeah, I can understand that. The big chainsaw basslines used to be a sticking point for me too, but listening to tracks that were otherwise highly inventive and well produced help me adjust to it. It's a bit like the standard psy-trance bassline: you either get on board with the fact it's the basis of most tracks in the genre, or you get annoyed by it and it will hold back your enjoyment of that sound. I also have similar issues with the electro-y bassline sound of much modern breaks.
I never heard back from you about my last (trance) mix, by the way. |
