I've played this a couple times in the last few days and really enjoyed it. Worked equally well for listening material during a pissed-off walk and for keeping me awake on an early morning. There is one song somewhere in the middle that I'm not the biggest fan of, but overall all the other tracks are good fun, and were mixed quite well. Normally consider myself a bigger fan of the atmospheric Drum & Bass, but this definitely works, as well. Will keep this one on the iPod for sure :)

Also, on the topic of Drum & Bass, you weren't ing joking about all the DJs here back-spinning on the breakdowns. Holy . The other night, I got talked to by a bouncer for accosting the DJ at a club when I yelled at him to stop ing up everyone's dancing with the double breakdowns :(

Yeah, rewinds are one aspect of drum 'n bass I will never, ever understand. Thankfully the better DJs hardly ever do it.

Theres a time and a place. I remember seeing Hype at Bestival last year in the hottest, sweatiest tent you can imagine and he was doing rewinds about once every 3 or 4 tunes. It was a welcome break from dancing to be honest.

I'm not going to get deep, but this is treadmill music and i'm pretty fit now. Good job Jackie O.

Cheers Jay. That was a better review than I expected from you...

I don't listen to enough of this stuff to be able to chinstroke it. It was mixed well, and it makes you work hard. It will get some more 6am sweat session plays.

little late to the party but pretty damn good for not knowing the genre.

Thanks, appreciate the listen. After all your comments about harmonic mixing I thought you might not appreciate that half this set is mixed in one key.

i think my issue with harmonic mixing is that people don't really get the concept or how to apply it as a musical device and it kinda begs the question.

I also feel that mixes that aren't live can't really be rated in terms like flow which you might rate a live mix because I might be on a totally other level than someone else. Another reason why harmonic mixing, especially from a horizontal perspective is meaningless from a emotional standpoint when you can't gauge where your audience is at. A recorded mix should just present tracks in a non obtrusive way and make one curious about the music enough that it might encourage one to go buy the tracks. The fact that at no point did i feel like turning it off and also made me check out an artist for me is a successful mix.

So no, it didn't bother me. Unless it was intentional. In that case I am retroactively annoyed. lol.
