I find the Hm80s are just too loud for most rooms. I had to buy about 1000 in bass treatment for these to work. Room size is a normal room with high ceiling.
The bass rolloff switches tend to either be too much or too little. I think they are good in conjunction with something else. Would not use them as my mains. |

I thought it was the Mackie's who had the bass switches? Or am I not reading that right? :conf: :p
Anyways, I should've been more clear maybe, shame on me:whip:
I'll be using these as main monitors for producing, and then A/B with the 8020a's for mixdown. They just are too tiny for this room, and I think 8" would suit better. I will go to the store and listen to both, and you've given me at least a few pointers on what to listen/look for. Any more would be great.. And it really is between these two. Or maybe non at all lol.. Maybe I need to produce through a radio or something.. There's little hope of getting to produce on a club system blargh.. |

| And I have the luxury of having my studio in my bedroom so I have loads of big objects that reflect little sound, or will at least with some treatment of the hillbilly kind. Oooor maybe I'll build my own reverb chamber.. That'd be sweet :gsmile: |

Mackies have +/- switches. The others only have roll-off. Which is what I thought l4c maybe was referring to. |
