ive been using them for so many years now... id have to say the bass can be a slight little bit boomy... slightly exaggerated at mid to high volumes, especially in an un or less treated room...

if you have good headphones and a crappy stereo to test on you can avoid big mishaps

great resale value tho if you hate them and can't return them!

these are the best tho:

Man, are those Inland speakers? Nice.

I banged out a couple of really great tunes with an old altec lansing stereo+sub computer speaker system. and some not so great. one time I had been producing this really cool thing with loads of weird stereo synths, but then when i listened to it it just sounded flat and lifeless and wrong and boring and ugly. turns out I had been sitting in a very non-sweetspot where loads of reeeaally weird stuff was happening..

I don't know what you think your speakers are going to do for you in that price range that is going to make your productions SO much better. Give me a break. Most producers don't even use that top tier price bracket. The fact is you can accomplish a lot once you learn how to understand your speakers and your room and get a good formula for referencing out on other speakers like your car. The truth is that you can make great tracks with either of these speakers. If you can't make a great club track with something like these, you should give up on producing.

I agree with you. I'm just sayin no speakers are perfect. Every single pair has their faults.

I thought they were objectively great, the Yamahas, but I couldn't stand them. Sold them within a year.

Sorry, but you're full of , and the fact you think KRK's may be decent is proof enough for me.

I don't particularly like the MR range from mackie as they are basically budget versions of the HR range which are good monitors, but even they are still flawed.

The HS80's are great monitors and frankly if you can't produce a decent mix on them, then the problem is yours and not the monitors.

Of course, each to their own, but HS80's are really quite flat with no bad scoops and therefore, so if you think they don't sound right, again , the problem is not the monitors.

As for the LF, they have plenty below 250hz, and if anything they boom too much in a small room.

IMO, the HS80's are the best monitors in their price braket and I wouldn't give KRK the steam off my on a cold winters day.

I don't disagree with you at all actually, and I'm not full of .

I agree anyone could produce solid mixes on the Yamahas. I'm just sayin they're so flat they made producing music boring to me.

Producing music should just be wicked.

Who cares if it sounds like crap afterwards. Nobody cares anymore anyway.
