It'd probably be cooler if there wasn't a way more awesome car parked behind it. VW's suck.
Congrats though! |
The only couple of VW's I like are the Touareg and the GTI. The rest seem a bit too vanilla for my liking. Their saving grace is their thriftiness as the pumps. |

Clarkson has
Seriously though, they are german cars, even at their worst they are better then about 70% of other junk on the streets. Though the new 3 series is sweeeet. Drove the 328 with the m sport pack, loved it! Especially the interior is just so damn nice, a really nice place to sit.

Love the DS5 so much, glad to see citroen picking up the ball with their DS line after being bland or for years. The only thing is, even with the big engine people say that this is quite slow. Not that you would want to race one but for when youre driving up one of those nice curvy european moutain roads a bit of kick is welcome. |

I'm liking the direction BMW's styling is heading towards. The last generation of 3's looked terrible, while the ones before weren't much better. The new 328 has an appropriately taut chassis; surprised me first time I had a go in it. Probably the best value for your money in the BMW range at the moment. |

An American car? My former U.S. colleagues even didn't want one... |
Yeah, you're right for most parts but some are still proprietary. In a city like LA i would be fine but might be a bit more scarce in the styx.
The problem is that VW for me (as a European) is meant to be a cheap/affordable but well engineered brand, but over here in the US it's getting close to luxury prices to comparative offering and it's not like VW are special. They're a common mid point car and frankly the styling on the new models is pretty horrendous. The golf looks like such a toy these days and the Tiguan looks like a golf with weird proportions.
Audi are horrific when it comes to maintenance; My brother in law has a Q7 and the headlight got a tiny bit damaged. We tried to replace it and there's so many layers of bull you have to remove with proprietary tools we gave up after an hour. Audi garages charge 3 hours of labor to do that and of course only sell audi parts meaning the repair, for a headlight came to $800.
You want to replace the battery? Yep, only allowed to install audi parts to keep your warranty and guess what Battery is not covered by warranty meaning it could die in the first year (as his did) and he has to shell out $400 for the correct battery, whereas an aftermarket is about $120.
I very nearly bought a Porsche Cayenne S last week as it was such a great deal, but the gas consumption and parts cost on it are just riduculous and it's a little too flash for pootling around town.
Thinking of getting one of these if I can find one in good condition with about 40k miles on the clock.

Eww, a C Class. :p
You want to buy a real car rather than a toy one. I'm selling my V12 S Class ;) 500bhp...590lb/ft torque...0-60 in 4.6 secs. :p

I think Audis are great, I'm the only one in my family without one. My father is on his third consecutive A8, my brother has an A4 Wagen and my mother an S4 Wagen.
My parents drive a lot of miles and my brother lives on a small island that is rough on cars despite the low mileage. All are as reliable as sin and never have anything go wrong, although they have purchased them all new or 3 months old.
I'm looking at a new A6 Supercharged 3.0L V6 and compared to similar BMWs and Mercedes it's excellent value and extremely well built IMO.
I find A4s too small and the A5s too impractical but they're still excellent cars. They feel so well screwed together. |

Seriously, am I the only one who immediately thought of that song from seeing the thread title? |
I got the "A new car!" that Bob Barker would announce in Price is Right. |
