Ferrari isn't as prestigious as it used to be. Pagani is what Ferrari was decades ago. If you're gonna spend an absurd amount of money on a vehicle you might as well spend it on the one with better craftsmanship, performance, and exclusivity.
I'd still love to get myself an Aston eventually. |

I'd drive it, but only on roads where I was sure I wouldn't bump into anyone I knew. |
Having worked at an Audi dealership and after driving a couple I reall like the r8, but I would much rather have a Porsche. The money isn't worth what the car is made of, plus my neighbor just got one :whip: |

Very True. Aston are one of the few marques that are actually worth the money. DB9 Vantage is one of the most stunning cars available today, or has ever been made for that matter.
Ferari have become so plastic and their clearly aiming to the target market of Russians and Arabs. Nothing wrong with that, just not my taste and a far cry from what they used to be.
Pagani? really guys? So nouveux. You;re also ed on anything less than perfectly flat roads which means the car is useless in London, Paris, LA, NY, etc. Great if you live in northern Utah, but not really anywhere else. |

Their designs hardly seem to age at all. Look at the V8 Vantage; it hasn't been updated for quite a while and yet it still looks fresh. And the new Vanquish is IMO one of the best Astons yet.
The design may be less simple and clean than the outgoing DBS, but I love that car. |

See that is a thing of beauty, but I prefer the slightly shorter wheelbase and visual proportions on the Vantage.
I'm not usually one for grilles and vents, but the One-77 looks so damn ing cool

It's also at least a 2005 :tongue3 and the insurance on gas on that thing are just not worth it.
C class is fine for me - I'd look like twat at my age driving around in a S class. Driving is pretty rough here in LA so I also need a care that I don't mind too much if it gets scraped or bumped not to mention valets who always your car. |
Well in fairness a nickname for me at the age of 17 (albeit only by one person) was Grandad but I have a Rogaine free household! ;)
Insurance for me has never been a problem, have paid around $800/yr since I bought it aged 24 and I don't really care about fuel since I know I'm spending more to have a quick car and only drive about 7000 miles a year anyway. For the times when I'm not getting 9mpg burning it off the lights I get well over 20mpg on the highway. Can't complain really.

IMO, this is bollocks. Audi are getting less and less reliable. My GF's family have been audi owners for 20 years (new only) and have owned virtually every model.
Their last A6 (S) had major gearbox problems at 40k and at 80k the car started having other electrical issues so they got rid of it. The currently have a Q7 and an RS4. The RS4 had weird windscreen wiper problems that meant the arm actually cut a groove in the windscreen. Audi replaced the arm and glass but then the seal for the glass wasn't completely waterproof. The Q7 is fine but it's only 4 months old and has the most annoying proximity detection that you can't permanently switch off. |
All my parents' and brother's cars have been new too. My father never keeps his cars for more than 18mos to 2yrs but my mother's S4 has not far off 100,000 miles and as I said have all been reliable as can be. How can that be bollocks? Maybe they've got lucky, maybe you've been unlucky. |

| See, now those are cars that look like they want to eat the road's out all day, unlike the soft looking, old man Mercedes. |

I don't know, I quite like some of the Mercs. Definitely a fan of this one, I think it's a beast:

You must live in the boonies for your insurance to be that low. I have never had a claim, have garaged parking and a crappy car that's only worth about $10k now and my insurance is still above $1200 a year, with all sorts of combined discounts.
S class V12 for someone under 30 (let alone under 25) living in LA would easily be about $3k a year in insurance.

I dunno. Maybe they got unlucky but their last three (recent) Audi's have all had weird malfunctions.
Also, from the JD power 100 list of most reliable cars of the last decade, Audio enters at a miserable 30th spot with the A4. Their next entry in the top 100 is 60th with the A2.
All of the jap cars enter lower of course, but Mercedes has 5 entries below 60th spot with their first entry being 24th, and SAAB, Ford, Jag, BMW, Rover, Skoda & Citroen all rank higher than Audi.
It's really a bit of myth that Audi's are this super reliable brand. |

I've had the joy (horror?) of driving one of those once. The noise is great, but being a Mercedes it felt a bit too tame with it's overarching traction control. Turning it off nearly got me killed though...
I love the One-77. At first I thought it was a bit ridiculous with its huge fender flares and gaping vents, but seeing one in person made me fall for it. The only Aston I can't get behind is this little bastard:

LOL, yeah, I can imagine. It's a big-ass engine for a not so big car. |
