LOL ... nothing against Seattle mate. I'm just going by what some friends from up there have told me, that the suicidal rate over there is really high.

I can understand why people would have that perception, as it is overcast more than most places in the country, but...

quote:
1. Seattle has the highest suicide rate in the country.

Seattle has regrettably suffered the title “Suicide City USA” for a long time, presumably because of the weather. Rainy weather equals higher suicide rates – perfectly logical! But the truth is Seattle doesn’t even make the top 10 list. According to a study published in the journal Social Science and Medicine, Las Vegas is the true suicide capital of the US, followed by Colorado Springs, Tuscon and a list of other cities that don’t include Seattle. Among states, Alaska tops the list.

2. The Pacific Northwest is the rainiest part of the country.

Not even close. Hawaii and all of the states along the Gulf Coast get more annual precipitation on average than the Pacific Northwest by a wide margin.

Beautiful region, though. I've never been, but I'd love to go camping in Alaska for a couple of weeks. Couldn't stand to live that disconnected from the rest of the world, though.

Oh yeah agreed, would love to visit but not to stay. Not Alaska, but one of my girlfriends lived in Yellowknife, NWT for a few years after college and she loved it.

Yea, there are two states where I have consistently met people who are pretty nuts, Alaska and Montana. Something about those two states... I think they are too big and open. All that land and cold and stuff... Gets into peoples heads and does strange things to them. :nervous:

Also those two states have a penchant for sending people here to live (not as bad as ing California though). There is still a person from Montana that lives here and if I ever run into him he is getting a swift punch to the face. I don't hold really long grudges, but this guy, man, he deserves it.

I know some cool people from Montana, but I have never met someone I liked or who was sane from Alaska. ing hate that state with a passion.

Seattle is an amazing city.

I do wish it was drizzling today, though, but it's like 70 degrees and sunny. Pissing me off.

I guess that it's fairly safe to say that Canadians and Americans alike seem to love the Cascadia region.

Hail to thee!

Yea, I know a few cool people from Montana, obviously Citric is cool, and my cousin's husband's friend who was in Turkey with us was pretty cool too. He is from Missoula... Maybe only cool people come from the Bitterroot Valley are cool? Now this doesn't really negate the sanity aspect... :p Citric is a bit nuts (in a good way of course haha), and my moms best friend from High School lives up in Kalispell, and she is pretty wacky (her kids are pretty wacky too, stayed with them on a road trip back in the 90s).

Most of the jerks I know come from Helena.

Seriously though, you can't doubt the crazy in MT. One word: VAR.

Dude, today sucks, it looked like it was going to clear up a bit as I was going to class, get out and its all ing grayed over again, but still warm. humidity. I hate that . I hate when just a normal walk makes you feel sweaty and gross.
