Gerber's set was PHENOM. Man, I need to see him more... he was playing like 4 tracks at a time and mixing them flawlessly. Beautiful beautiful set.
Yeah, Sasha was pretty meh in the beginning but he blew out of the water once the fireworks went off. That ending was fire fire fire fire.
Glad I got to see so many friendly faces. Crowd overall was great.
Looking forward to Luciano/Carl Craig :) |

felt like Maya had great tracks but the set wasn't mixed with any kind of flow. Sasha in 1.5hrs(-15min for fireworks) is a joke. It's so deep it takes 1.5hrs just to get into the music. Guy Gerber killed it IMO, didn't hurt that there were some tracks from Luciano's sets (music to my ears), so he was a homerun from the start. Can't wait to see him Ibiza. The party should've started at 7pm - the sun was brutal, but overall setup with the view of the city was really nice and was nice to be home early. |
+20 minutes... he went over
I truly love Maya for her productions but she seems to lose her style quite a bit on the decks.

This was one of the best parties I have ever been to. Period. Everything was literally perfect. If I had a blog I'd write a dope review, and actually mean it. |
You say this about EVERY party in NYC haha. You are always blown away every time you come back to visit.... Face the facts Ravi... ;) |

I knew I wasn't crazy. I don't think there was a moment in his set where there weren't at least 3 tracks playing at the same time, and fusing together perfectly in most cases. |

loved this party. thought maya was a mixed bag, loved her much more as a headliner the one time ive seen her.
guy gerber is a genius. the way he he puts his music back together on Live is very special, with just a few other people tracks to build the journey.
i know some people seem to have been bored by sasha, but my legs and feet hurt for a day because i coudlnt stop dancing - he gave me what i came for: beautiful summer sasha music.
highlights:
Every Love that Ever was (sasha mix)
TUNE OF THE NIGHT: Kolsch - Goldfisch
Andhim - Wizard of Us |

| Props to Verboten for organizing this. Sasha played a solid set, some parts were meh but the last 40 minutes were dark and groovy. I was happy that he didn't play his usual involver 3 set, I was hoping to hear some old Sasha. Set of the day/night was Gerber at Highline hands down. He played 2.5 hours of heavy stuff and his mixing flawless, very smooth. |

i am excited.
yeah i agree with most of things that were said here.
i enjoyed sasha's set overall and liked the fact that he had that track looping during the fireworks. i love how everybody was waiting with suspense on what would actually happen. that last hour of his set was pure fire.
the beginning of the set was a bit disappointing of me not because of how he mixes but what he started with. guy gerber played a perfect sunset set and build it up his set perfect for sasha. all sasha needed to do was to drop one big room track and have everybody go nuts. but he didn't quite did that. he tired playing deeper and really didn't go anywhere with it.
i would have loved to hear some involv3r tracks as well but to be quite honest he hasn't really been playing his new tracks. i have seen the man numerous times this year. i don't remember him playing any new tracks at output and he only played small talk and turn the tide at (((stereo))).
but his highline afterparty set was pretty awesome. he had all the lights dimmed down when he got on and started with turn the tide (involv3r remix) i think he also played small talk at one point of the night. the rest of his afterparty set was pretty dark and spot on.
back to the verboten party;
it was one of the few verboten parties i actually attended but was totally impressed with it. the sound and location was superb. and drink choices were great as well. you can't go wrong with guys trying to sell you beer as you're hanging around the venue.
i got there around 3ish and spent most of the first 2 hours socializing with people. there were so many familiar faces and i really didnt spent much time paying attention to music.
i didn't really listen to bill patrick and david squilllace but what i heard was proper. i can't comment too much on maya jone coles during the party but she had the party going. but i have to say her highline set amazing. her mixing was REAL good and had me dancing all night even though i was so worn out.
like everybody said, set of the day was guy gerber. the daytime set was phenomenal and i sure hope it was recorded. his highline set was truly something else as well. i haven't seen a dj that has the entire crowd dancing without playing a banger or a popular track. people around me kept asking each other "wtf, what track is this?" throughout the night. looking forward to next time he plays at nyc. lets hope its soon! |

Just picked up that Luciano Tix, hope to see you all there again and they change nothing..except more sound, even tho it was already good :tongue2

I dont think his sound changes much with Carl Craig by his side...does it? |

I loved Sasha after the fire works! Really good stuff. More importantly, I loved every minute of hanging with everyone, and had an absolute blast.
Even after ~12 years in the scene, I dont critique stuff like flow of the set, trainwrecks, etc. My judgement of a party always goes as such:
"Did I have fun: cirle yes or no." Thats how I decide if a night is good or not.
Ravi- just live here already. Give in to the urrrrge ;) |

glad this was such a success.
can't wait for luciano. wish he was playing solo, i feel like his DJing style isn't really made for b2b's. but whatever, we'll see.
can anyone ID this track? i saw sasha/gerber in toronto on monday, figured sasha may have played a similar set. dying to get this in my library:
and as far as gerber playing tracks that luciano plays..i know for a fact he dropped this bomb:
boom! |
