making good trance kicks in 3xosc

Im at my wits end with this .....while its easier to make good hardstyle kicks in 3x osc i find it hard to get a good sounding uplifting trance kick ...ive watched maybe 8 youtube tut's on kicks but none of them sound good.....is it even possible?...i posted a track in the producer forum and the kick more or less sounds like hardstyle....

| I don't know why new producers torture themselves with this... there's an inherent skill in choosing good sample packs... download a million kicks and save yourself the annoyance of this. Honestly a huge waste of time for 99% of producers. |

| Vengeance sample pack or sample from a pro track. Don't spend too much time on it, it'll only be a waste. |

I have to agree. It is hard enough when you are beginning to choose the right kick from samples. It takes a while to train your ears. That's why I don't really like the advice to new producers that you should always just 'trust your ears'. Even with a few elements playing in a reference track it can be difficult to tell what the kick really sounds like or what different layers are creating the lead synth, ect. |

I personally disagree.
Imo a producer should also learn to do it the raw way. Doesn't mean he'll be making a kick from scratch each time, but imo it is a process every aspiring producer should go through. |

Or, they could stop trying to reinvent the wheel and focus on more important things, like songwriting. Oh wait, never mind, we're talking about EDM. songs with no musical substance is the norm. Yeah, keep working on making your own kick drums. The only thing audiences care about is the kick drum. |

This is how I create a sweet kick in 3osc.
1. Delete 3osc.
2. Load Vengeance sample.
3. Receive bitches that love the bass. |

have to agree with most of what's being said in here. there is so much to master in production that you really need to pick your battles and focus your attention on what's most important to you.
what do you ultimately want to do? produce songs? or design sounds?
if it's the former you need to focus on the right areas. of course being able to design sounds is important, but as cryophonik said, you need to decide where to focus that energy. are you going to create a kick drum that sounds better / different than what is already out there? most likely not. so your time is better spent on another area of production. |

I was refering more to the concept than else. Cause by that logic, we should say also to go straight for the preset. |
