I just believe in keeping these challenges simple, and not adding any more bells and whistles than strictly necessary, seeing as how every challenge usually kicks off with about a page worth of arguing back and forth regarding the challenge's stipulations. |
Yeah, Psyshell, I agree with Jan here. I originally thought that the theme challenge was to be another submitted, randomized gig, but keeping it to one theme challenges everyone to interpret it in different ways, which I'm game for.
Jan, when the time comes, would you like to make the thread for this? We still haven't decided on the order we are going to do all of these.
So far the ideas are:
1. 3 random tracks
2. Dropbox master crate
3. Theme challenge
4. Team mix
5. Tribute mix
6. Original genre challenge
I say we either do all of these, or veto one of them.
Shall I randomize the list or keep it in this order? I'm just trying to decide which one to do first. |

I don't think so. Since you're the one organising this to begin with, having someone else start the thread will just be confusing.
As for the ideas, if you really don't feel comfortable just picking one to go with yourself, you could post a poll in advance of the start of the challenge and go with the one that receives the most votes. I say just pick one and let's get on with it, though. There will always be a share of people for and against any of the ideas on this list anyway. |

I think he sortof missed the point of what I said. Which is that administrative stuff would be incredibly easy. I did also mention that discussions would make up the bulk of the complexity. Anyway nevermind.

Lets not have the next 2 years worth of activities be decided by an RNG please. I'd recommend that we pick/discuss 2 at a time and then decide what the 3rd/4th will be (which might include a repeat) after the first one is done. |

I understood you just fine. Of course it wouldn't be DIFFICULT to administrate the different challenges to the different participants, that's not the point. The point is that it'd still be another layer of complexity that really isn't needed. Having one theme for everyone and seeing how the individual DJs interpret this theme is more than interesting enough. We don't need one individual theme for each DJ to achieve this goal, so why not just keep it simple? |

Yep, I agree with this. It wasn't clear to start, so we're keeping it with the single theme idea.

Fair enough. I think 3 challenges per year is enough to keep people interested without it being too much trouble. We have a better chance of getting more participants that way also.
The problem is that we have a lot of great ideas and we need to decide when to do them. I can see that people are eager, but if we want to do this right, especially with holidays coming up and people are busy at their works, I'm wondering if waiting until the new year might not be a better option. This way, people can mark it on their calendar and they aren't rushed.
I'm fine with waiting for the 3 random tracks idea until 2015. That was my idea originally and it seems to be one of the more controversial.
Ideally next year I'd like to do the Theme mix, the Dropbox master crate, and a traditional genre challenge.
How does this sound?
2014
January - Theme challenge
May - Master crate challenge
September - Genre challenge
2015
January - 3 random tracks
May - Team mix or tribute mix?? How about another theme challenge?
September - Genre challenge |

I doubt I'll enter this time around, if I were I'd definitely prefer to keep the challenge as it were.
I think it would be good if it were more of a competition with prizes at stake done with voting, but highly doubt that could be arranged. |

This time around? You have 6 chances to enter in the next two years. There will be two original challenges as well. Or did you not read that part?;) |

Yeah I was implying the next round, weather it's Januaury or whatever. |

| We aren't starting any challenges until January 2014 due to the holidays. I would personally like to see you participate, Teez. |

Of course it could. Just put some time and effort into rounding up interest and participants and promoting the competition on here effectively. Then set up some rules for the competition, have people vote for the best mix without the knowledge of who mixed what via a poll etc. etc. The question is simply whether you can be bothered or not. |

That is begging the question. The whole point of this thread is to find out what people prefer. You're simply throwing a tantrum because not everyone agrees with your esoteric ratio of how restrictive a challenge should be. And what a tantrum it is - I thought I was a belligerent bastard, but I've never tripled-posted to call people cunts, and especially not in a discussion of what game everyone wants to play. |
That is hardly a tantrum. I really dislike how you guys are going about this, though. Ziptnf is just basically shouting a schedule without taking any time to break anything down, have a discussion, and try to make the games more enjoyable for anyone who might partake. Look at the poll, traditional genre challenge has the most votes, yet you guys insist on doing this master crate thing first. You all jumped at my neck when I said "don't tell me what to play , bitch" when it was clearly not directed at him specifically as if it were. You two are acting like the two most inflated egos in a playground. Carry on jerking each other off, I'll wait for the real . |

I'm only trying to set the schedule because the more we kept talking about it and discussing it like you're so adamant that we do (without actually providing any discussion, you've been mainly crying this entire thread), the less progress we make. More ideas, more changes, more tweaks, more this and that. So people keep telling me to stop listening to your bitch ass and just make a decision. I make a decision and you say that I'm rushing this and trying to shout out a schedule.
The only person who has a problem with me taking the lead on this is you. Do you want to run it? Or do you want to actually add productive discussion and not an annoying cunt? You don't like any of the other challenges, but other DJ's do. So just participate in the traditional challenge and quit being a giant pain in my ass. |
