This thread is hilarious on many levels. First, EYK's command of the English language is mesmerizing.
But even more hilarious is the snobbery on this thread, where folks are claiming Richie Hawtin is boring and makes ty music, and THEN those same folks are posting Boiler Room sets of total gibberish (here's a newsflash, the majority of Boiler Room sets are garbage! -- something about the ultra-pretentious vibe I think), claiming that it's superior to Hawtin/Dubfire.
I understand the schtick in here though, most of those in this forum were hardcore trance-crackers back in the day, and most hardcore trance-crackers move on to deep house or some other experimental ambient bull music. Richie Hawtin and Dubfire and DJs of that ilk have the farthest possible sound from that sound so I understand the hate. But it's still funny nonetheless. If you're going to post some sets of techno DJs that you think are better than Richie Hawtin, then at least give us a valiant effort. I mean, there's many you could argue for... |

This is wack as man. Sorry. I don't give a if his crates are deeper than Fort Knox's vaults. sucks ass. I mean, how much K do you need to do to get lost in that crap? I'm talking about the Boiler Room mix, btw, not those two clips. |

All good, everyone has their own groove. Personally, I find Melvin's sets to be ridiculous adventures - I love the fact that I rarely know what he's going to drop at any given moment in any given set. Back when I first started playing, a lot of House and Techno DJs used to take a lot more chances musically, not being afraid to veer off into new wave, synth pop, industrial and anything else that was deemed fitting. It's something I still strive for in my sets, and it's good to hear a DJ who still aspires to convey that sense of adventure to larger audiences. |
