I am not saying I go out for hot girls, albeit preferred when I am at a beach party as the video was. I definitely would not like to listen to Traxx at a beach party with 50 dudes. |

Claude Von Stroke's music is totally different...talking about bassy ghetto-tech-house-funk with all sorts of hip-hop influences. It's fun to listen to. Of course it draws hot ass at its shows.
Compare that music to the type of music at Dystopian parties...:stongue: .
I love some dark, twisted, brooding techno courtesy of DJs such as Rodhad from time to time, but there's something to be said for events where there's actually hot girls present. Which, to take it back to the Dubfire/Richie Hawtin tip, is why those shows are (IMO) better than most.
Never have been a fan of these "dungeon" shows with some uber-underground techno DJ that plays incredibly hard, non-female-friendly music all night (which is probably why I'm one of the few that actually prefers the festival setting -- provided it's a good festival). Great for home listening, terrible for going to a party -- unless you like dance floors where the ratio is 20-1. And the "1" is usually some gothic-hipster hybrid beast of a woman.
And let's be honest, even if you are completely satisified with a woman in your life, it's still better when there's a decent ratio at a show, even if your girl is with you. The party is and should always be the focal point of any show, not just what tracks the DJ is playing. |

I don't want my tastes conflating with PivotTechno's just because we both dislike Richie Hawtin. Put it this way, when Hawtin was boring the out of me with his Enter show at Sonar back in the summer, an endless procession of stupid white noise breakdowns and silly plumes of smoke and fireworks, I defected over to the other arena to see Derrick May do this:
Techno with sweat-soaked energy, with interesting structures, with varied and exciting rhythms, with flashes of melody where it counted, and not so much mixed as wrestled dextrously in and out of the mix by a man with two turntables and a mixer. And if that doesn't give enough indication, the next techno line-up I'm seeing is Dave Clarke and Joey Beltram. 'Nuff said? |
Fair enough sir. Anyone who's a fan of Joey Beltram is fine by me. I know you UK residents have more than enough electronic music events, but seeing as that you're a fan of Detroit techno, come out to Movement one year. You can see all those Detroit legends + just about anyone else who is "legit" in the techno/electro/dubtech scene. I'm sure you already knew that though. Incredibly produced and curated festival. |

I didn't really like any post-DD productions from either Dubfire or Sharam (nightmares of "Ribcage" and "Grindhouse" from way back when), if they went back and made stuff like this again I'd be interested:

Maybe not where you live but in Europe (I know in Berlin and Paris at least), purist techno pulls more than enough woman. Rodhad especially has a whole legion of fangirls. I've literally never been to a techno party here that was a complete sausage fest. And I don't know if you've seen any of the Dystopian guys live, but they play about as catchy and hook-y as you can get with purist techno which is why I find them so appealing. |
