It's somewhat depressing that anyone over the age of about 15 thinks crap like this. It seems as though I have a fairly different opinion to those expressed so far in the thread.
People like different types of music. Some people just aren't looking for highly nuanced or interesting stuff. Sometimes all people want is catchy stuff with a cheesy hook that's fairly fun for them. That said, that doesn't mean that there isn't some flexibility in what a lot of people listen to. Sometimes you can get people into electronic music but it's not necassarily who you'd expect. For instance I've always found getting people who mostly listen to metal into psy or techno far easier than people who listen to crappy electro/commercial house. Some styles of music have a variety of atmospheres and are darker and harder than most types of music, and then some are fluffy and gimmicky. If people have been listening to cheesy music for quite a while they've probably been exposed to "better" music and simply not been interested. They might grow out of it eventually but it usually has to happen on their own accord. Some styles might not even be that accessible at first. People have to go through a musical journey to develope the sorts of broad tastes that some of the senior posters here have. I wouldn't worry too much about people who have crappy music, taste, introduce things to people occasionally and if you want others who are into good stuff you're going to need to seek them out and not just convert people.

Then when I was 21 I moved to a city with a strong music scene, I went to parties, I made friends and now I'm surrounded by people who like genuinely good music, rather than sat wallowing in my room listening to defunct '90s music on my own. |
While that's not a bad idea that's not necessarily realistic for everyone. He's probably got a lot of priorities and we don't even necessarily know whether music is the main thing in his life. Maybe he wants a city with easy women or a good wine and cheese scene?

From now on, I'm gonna refer to them as bipolar trance and autistic trance. |
Nice try troll. |

I realize you're being facetious, but come on, every city has easy women, and good wine and cheese scenes are a dime a dozen these days.
On a more serious note, this guy is saying that he's immensely depressed by the lack of good music around him. I kinda feel like he has no other priorities :p |

That is an excellent point. I've managed to win over a few deep house recruits out of my friends who already listen to R&B/neo soul. It helps that, sonically speaking, it's not really that much of a leap to begin with. |

Let me remind you, since it's obviously not in your memory..
The man clearly evolved. He was da joker and now he's da godfather. |

It's actually better than a lot of the dross from Kaleidoscope. At least here he's ripping off some decent music, like MGMT of five years ago. |

Well, I detect a strong undercurrent of alienation from his peers, and even borderline contempt for them. So I think the music is just a symptom of a larger problem. The guy talks as if everyone he knows has the taste of a high school teenager. If by your 20s you don't know anyone who listens to cool music, whether it's electronic, underground hip-hop, experimental rock or whatever, you either live in a ing dive of a town or you're keeping bad company. |

I don't think Tijs can produce a pop song, this is not his track at all. |
