| Just heard Tiestos latest track....EDM garbage. Not the first time he's abandoned trance in the name of money, he made a track with 3 Six Mafia for s sake, and I think that was made years before Guetta blew up in the USA. It feels like a lot of the old trance hands are leaving, turning to EDM and slower sounds, music that's easier to sell to more people. I've even started questioning whether to make 136+ BPM peak-time trance, or make the more progressive/euphoric 132 BPM stuff. |

Never has my friend...its better this way...gives way to the pioneers like John Askew, John O Callaghan, and Activa and etc to dominate now. |

more people not understanding the whole nomenclature and producers not knowing how to promote ie promoiting themselves as producers vs artist. i don't get it. its one of those like, great, you sell toilet paper, now if we change the name from jews should die to anything else, we will double sales, are you in ? umm, but like i'm number 7 on beatport. the only people to blame for people not understanding is the producers nad the labels. |

that new electro house is trance. Its euro dance. it has trance melodies and chords. there is nothing house about the current music sold as house. I mean nothing at all. You could defend the electro 2 years ago because it kept some house things but this stuff is more gay hardstle than anything else. He has always been the trailblazer of framage. |

Finally someone says it. Seems like everything under the sun is now "progressive house." What's house about it? Has house become the new blanket term for anything with a 4/4 beat like "techno" was a few years back?
Where's the piano chords, the deep funky basslines, the occasional soulful vocal samples?? I hear nothing but over-digitized crap in these tracks. |

I think it has to do with having a mid life crisis honestly. These guys have had their hayday and now they're married with kids and are terrified of getting old. When they were in their 20s and 30s they were HUGE and now they're in their 40s. I think they're trying to remain "relevant."
If there's one piece of advice I'd give, it would be the same advice Gary Numan gave: When you're drifting out of the spotlight, go out gracefully. Keep doing what you love. Sure, you won't feel popular anymore, but you'll still have that integrity and your true fans will stick by you and those are the ones who would pay to go see you live and buy your records. |

I don't think it has to do with a mid life crisis. Most DJ's never will be as popular as they still are. Sometimes I get the impression they would like to be less popular, but I could be wrong.
Fact is that they get a lot of attention. I wonder what we would have discussed over here when Jam&Spoon would have started later. |
