This is one of my favorite club-focused releases so far this year, a track that I've quite often found myself building sets around.

Man, that Cristi Cons, so good but soooo boooring.

edit: I'm kidding its nice, I'm just getting tired of all these ing kicks and beat gimmicks.

I can see that. I like a longer, more drawn out set that kinda takes its time like a lot of this music is suited for. With how stripped back and relatively simple the track is, it makes it easy to mix out of it early.

I like this one because its a little deeper than what I've heard from him.

If you haven't already, check out SIT, his project with Vlad Caia, particularly their set from SW19 (haven't checked out the just-released SW21 set yet). They stay heavily on this same deeper/melodic side than most of the stuff coming from Romania right now. Really great .

I liked this one last year.

Also really like the Romar stuff, which is a bit more dub techno than minimal.

But a lot of this romanian stuff... it probably makes sense 30 hours into a party where everyone's on K or G but otherwise I don't really get it. It's the club equivalent of wallpaper music. At least it's not very offensive.

Yeah, that SIT release is great. While we're on the subject of good Romanian DJ's, an honorable mention should also go to Vincentiulian and Raresh. You can find more melody, higher tempos and driving, prog-like vibes throughout their sets than most of their counterparts. They've both come through SF this year and kept me hooked on the dancefloor the whole time. I can't say the same about people like Barac or Rhadoo, who have their moments but can't keep me locked.

To your point about this stuff sounding good 30 hours into a party, I think that's kind of the point for a lot of that scene. Most of the 'good' festivals and parties are real non-stop marathons for those who can hack it. I don't party that hard, but I've found myself really enjoying sets that are more drawn out and kind of float along for a while. The caveat is that you've just kinda gotta wade through the boring to find the quality DJs. A lot of the Romanian DJ's (even the boring, plod-along ones) have a really big depth of knowledge and versatility when it comes to dance music, and it can really shine through.

The great thing about the Romanian peeps is they all play that same kind of music but they each have their own flair. I've seen my fair share of them come by and I can sense they put a lot of hard work into what they do. I've seen Cap and Praslea thrown down bombs on par with some of the best I've heard out.

Yeah, it's that kind of that keeps me coming back. I've always loved how different DJ's can totally change the moods of different tracks, and that is super prevalent in their scene.
