Haha, has anyone here ever said you're not Brazilian? Because I can't see that happen and it would be totally crazy! :p

Nice, I've yet to meet another Brazilian TA! Oh, and it's fine, don't fret over it :)
I'm finishing my PhD these days, so I'll be insanely busy for the next couple of weeks anyway. |

Well obviously being black helped. He got a huge portion of the black vote.
He was also charismatic, an excellent speaker and a lot of people found him handsome (for a politician :p).
Also, every time any contender starts hammering the good old "CHANGE" word into our heads it's always a safe strategy to sway undecideds. |
I remember when the Obama hype was everywhere and I was just skeptical, when people were just either jumping on the bandwagon or seeing him as a black person, instead of evaluating his qualifications as a presidential candidate. And when I asked them what qualifications or skills he had to run the country, they always gave me this in-denial response of "don't you want a nonwhite person to be president, it's time for change, for social justice, whites have been president for too long" etc. But none of that justifies running a country or signifies the abilities to run a country.
It is or has become a popularity contest. |

what a load a crap. Obama was elected because he wasn't a republican. |
And they have actually.
You're not troubling anyone, Unicorn Troubler. Just reinforcing the irony of your | quote: | Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN

I am sorry you seem to need things explained to you that are rather obvious to everyone else.
clearly what I was actually saying was that anybody on the democratic ticket would have beaten the GOP for the presidency in 2008. anyone with half a clue (apparently not you) knew this at the time.
while Obama's colour certainly provided an advantage in some areas, it's a far cry from your "mass majority" previously asserted. |

Thank you for clarifying your assertion limiting to the Democratic ticket only, because your initial comment of "what a load a crap. Obama was elected because he wasn't a republican." clearly was talking about the Democratic ticket only. It's so obvious that your response to my "3rd party, 4th party" was:

it only needed clarifying because you're an imbecile. anyone else knew exactly what I was saying.

the reader infers, the writer implies. stop trying to use big words you don't understand. |

Your ignorance of thinking about only the Democratic party and Republican party in US should be obvious to everyone else?! I'm starting to see that. You ARE an imbecile.

No ? Am I not the reader? What part of me explaining what was inferred is implying something else? |

like many western liberal democracies, the US is dominated by two parties. doesn't mean other parties don't exist, but anyone with a clue would have understood what I was saying.

well you are the reader, obviously. but you were talking about me "inferring" (either that or you really need to work on your prose). either way, you write like .

Yeah I get for it from my mothers family all the time because I was the only one born here. I get the "ce fala estranho/diferente" all the time too. |

I have no problem with people sharing political views / links as long as it isn't slanted too much to the left or right.
My problem is with people who read a few headlines and all of a sudden think they have a grasp of the situation and how to fix it. The whole middle east/ISIS/Syria/Russia/Israel/Iran/etc. nonsense takes more than dropping a few bombs to fix... and we didn't just arrive here yesterday.
I do a fair share of reading and even I admit it is a confusing cluster of conflicting info. Too much for anyone to absorb unless it is your job and/or you lock yourself up at home doing it 24/7. |
