| Before that, she did about a decade of private duty, almost exclusively ventilator cases. She had a pretty impressive list of ventilator certs, and that skill was always in high demand. After that, she did a few years in a local nursing home. But, because she was part time, she did not have enough hours to qualify for federal FMLA protections. So, when she missed enough work due to her chemo and radiation treatments, the terminated her employment. Perfectly legal and by the book, but it's a kick in puss to have someone basically tell you "you got fired because, well, cancer". |

| Amen. We have some ed up employment laws/loopholes, and our private healthcare system is beyond ed up. We spend so much on her insurance that there is little left to cover existing bills and any future health care that her insurance does not fully cover. The plan she was on last year decided to double from $500 a month to $1,000 a month for the last third of the year. A in' grand a month just to keep coverage...that's not using the policy at all. When the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) first passed, she was actually able to get some competitive rates on policies that did not penalize her for pre-existing conditions (she was born pre-mature, and as a result, she had heart problems that manifested in her late teens; she basically has 2 bad valves that will eventually require replacement). But each year since, our esteemed lawmakers have stripped out a provision at a time, so we're back to paying more because she "chose" to be born premature and develop heart problems. In America, it is literally "your money or your life". |

Well if they are doing things the way they should, there should be strict/tight screening in place. But, America so lol.
This is why work is so safe. No visitors, rigorous screening, and OCD type infection prevention and control measures, etc. |

That's a fact...MAGA. She is cautious and good at her job. I know they are of course requiring masks and gloves, and I know they are also screening patients with temperature checks, so there's that. I just worry more than the average person, probably, because 1.) dats muh nature, and 2.) her preexisting conditions make her ripe for a good ole COVID beat down.
Speaking of temperature screening, does everyone know how you can quickly tell the difference between an oral vs a rectal thermometer? THE TASTE! Here all week. Tip server, try veal, wear mask! |

| Well, in this country at least, we are required to turn it into a ing bull political circus that can be used/abused by BOTH parties for any gains, usually short term. I've never seen such an obsession with politics...are other countries as bad as the US? Hell, at this point, I say we start a third party - the Pic party. If you want to run, you post pics of your . If they are deemed worthy, you hold office. If not, GTFO. The odds of seating an effective candidate this way can't be any worse than the current two party system of circle jerks and slow hand jigging in a back room somewhere. |
