For example, Jenny is very clearly joking about you being a serial killer. Your massive tract of over-earnest explanation as to why you would never kill people is totally unnecessary and deeply cringe, and when you start trying to return fire about people "thinking they're a lot smarter than they are", you become antagonistic about a mild joke and open yourself up to the firing squad.

Yeh alright, that does make sense.

Also lets say I don't fit into this social group. Does it matter? Why?

Because you might fly off the handle and kill one, or all, of us in a bitter incel rage?

It matters in the sense the people are unlikely to agree with your opinions or value your content, and are more likely to find them annoying.

The question behind your question is "Why can't you all be nice to me?" But what would that look like? Do you want people to engage faux-earnestly with your posts about goth clubs and that has no relevance or interest to anyone? Or do you want us to simply ignore you under the precept of "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything"?

That does seem to be how it works almost everywhere else. Why do you guys think that forum rules that exist almost everywhere else are a bad idea here? Also I made a thread about people's favourite sets before which ok might not be ideal for reasons beyond my comprehension but at least I was trying. Anyway as mentioned I can just stick to mostly the dj promo section which should be more productive.

Also it's a forum without much activity, why not make the odd random thread?

Also no I ain't killing anyone. I'm constantly being tracked and monitored by the government cos I'm smart (see schizotypal as mentioned)

I went to a day party in Detroit on Memorial Day Monday, 7am sunrise sesh with DJ Seinfeld, followed by a ing INCREDIBLE performace from Dubtribe Soundsystem, then Ron Trent.

Anyway, it was nearly 40 ing degrees out on that patio, before noon, and there were people there walking around with hoodies on and . I joked they were serial killers because only a person who was cold and dead inside would be comfortable wearing that. The most serial killer looking dude of all was wearing a plastic rain coat trimmed with pink fun fur on the sleeves, hem, and hood; and was also wearing faux leather skinny pants. Psycho!

Oh yeah, that same guy also tried to bump the line by saying he was an artist blahblah. The doorman patiently let him blather on and then calmly said "Ok. Welp, the back of the line is there and cover is 60 dollars." :stongue::stongue:

I don’t read anything over 4 lines

Well this checks out. What is it with trance music and mental illness?

I guess it's because it's an internet forum. Of course we'd need a survey to confirm if this makes any sense, but it seems neurodivergent people find it easier to interact on the internet because things that they may find threatening, such as body language, are no longer an issue behind a computer screen. My most silent students, to use an euphemism, are often the ones who flood my Facebook feed, and they seem pretty active on-line.

I've heard similar questions in different contexts, hence my alternative take (such as anime, although I'd probably go mental myself if I watched that much cartoon, but I digress). Maybe depressed people find the internet something of a safe haven? Although, to be fair, TA's nearly-everything-goes ethos probably won't contribute much to that :p

Look tbh I am sensitive. I am aware of that. At the same time though... this place is pretty far along the toxic lines. How do people know for sure it's better the way it is?

Look, I'm myself sensitive, but context matters.

TA's strenght is that you can talk to people from all walks of life here and learn things you otherwise wouldn't (very few people here are in the same continent, let alone in the same country). However, this also means you have to deal with different senses of humour, different kinds of banter, and different interests.

If something you said didn't get the response you wanted, try talking about something else. Or give it another spin. As you can see, some of us are actually giving you honest helpful replies. It's just a matter of learning if you're ready or moving on if you think you're in the wrong crowd :)

I mean I have bipolar, probably autism. Possible schizotypal but I don't even think that disorder exists tbh ;). More I could say but can't. At the end of the day, mehh, I reply to people's dj mixes and so I'm useful there at least.

Do you actually have a diagnosis?

I thought autism was a prerequisite for registering an account here.

As far as toxicity is concerned, this place is rather tame and you really have to be a super twat to get yourself banned. The rules that are in place today were in place 20+ years ago too - nothing kills a forum faster than a ton of rules and regulations. Basically don't spam, be a racist turd, or have an oversized sig.

What are these other forums you speak of? There's literally a handful of them that are worth mentioning - one of them being Something Awful which is running the same ancient (but heavily modded) version of forum sofware. Props to them @ 250 million posts lol

Haven't posted in a Friday thread on Friday in a minute.

Living in Thessaloniki atm. Cool city.

No plans other than a few bottles of wine chillin in the fridge. Will probably hop on the decks.

Hype to visit Halkidiki tomorrow for a week. Fun in the sun with a few friends visiting from London Town. Yeeaaa!
