Sure, that's great you're going to... wait, Paracatu!? I'm both happy for you and a little confused. Why there, of all places? Are you a miner or a farmer by any chance? How long will you stay there?

The city is very beautiful, as far as I know, you'll get to see a few houses from our colonial/imperial past and the scenery is amazing. However, the place is mostly famous for the local dairy industry, so if you're lactose intolerant, buckle up and prepare your chocolate wurst slicer for the happiest outburst this untanned sphincter of yours will ever experience. Do try queijo catupiry (catupiry cheese) and pão de queijo (cheese bun), while you're at it - the latter being by far the best thing come out of Brazil before rio funk. Paracatu claims the title of "the world's Pão de Queijo city" so it ought to be good.

PRO TIP: For the love of God, it's pronounced "pawng-jee KAY-joo" NOT "Pow-jee KAY-joo", which means hard throbbing cheese cock. Totally fine if that's your thing, but that ain't sold in bakeries. Just be careful out there and enjoy your stay :)

actually helpful, thanks man. appreciate it, when and if i go ill let you know how it goes with the cheese and lactose (i don't think I am but milk sometimes can me up so it's going to be a coin toss there bud)

yeah i work in mining, not as a miner though, just corporate is likely sending me down to help out with a few IT projects down there, probably a week or two.

Native's medium wings with ancho chile lime dry seasoning is pure bliss.

Dear diary,

I found out that here in Korea gorgonzola pizza comes with extra honey in case you want to dip the slices. I use the unexpected free honey for other sweetening purposes, but I found it amusing that the people here reportedly find the taste of gorgonzola too strong. Given how much they can gorge themselves on spicy kimchi, I never thought this could be an issue :p

I'll make an offering to Hesat, the Egyptian god of cow's milk, and pray for her to bless you with enough lactase to endure a day in Minas Gerais. It'll come in handy.

Oh, it's probably going to be a great trip then! The state is actually called after the mines, which I guess comes to show how important it is to the local economy :)

Covid time! Time to draw some veiny shafts

I hope COVID didn't hit you too hard and you gave the world more veiny goodness instead :)

Oh, and it'll never cease to amaze me how much cheaper music gear is abroad.

I went window shopping for music instruments this Friday, and everything is at least half or a third of the price back home. I could never understand why ordinary people on social media had entire walls full of mounted synths... but apparently I could afford having my own sonic spaceship if I lived abroad for a little longer. Then I could look at all those flashing lights and remember my music sucks because of me, not because of them :p

Finally took the plunge and decided to spend a night in Seoul and check out the club Orangesto suggested.

Turns out Monday is a holiday here and there's a scheduled electricity outage in the campus for the entire day, so I figured I'd go to the club this Sunday as they happen to be celebrating their anniversary. Besides, they promised they'll play happy hardcore some time from Friday to Sunday, so I'll go on the off chance I'm there at the right moment.

Edit: Totally. Worth. It. Much better than back home, the tempo never went below 140 BPM, and my clock claims I walked 33 kilometres.

Which is partly true, because no taxi (app or hailed in person) wanted to take me to my hotel because they reckoned 3 kilometres wasn't far enough.... so I had to walk the whole way back 4 in the morning. Too old to do that again anytime soon, although I'm glad I can now cross off "clubbing in Asia" from my bucket list.
