| Okay, I don't know if you all know, but I checked out Best Buy website, and they are starting to sell Technics SL-1200 and Pioneer CDJ and DJM series. At first glance, I thought, "Okay, maybe Best Buy will give me a good on DJ equipments." But Best Buy is a nationwide electronic super store. If they are selling DJ Gear, then every kid on block want to be a DJ. I am sure it's just waste of good money. I've talk to friends that was into DJing, but they never touch or spin with a DJ gear. They end up reselling them at lower price. That is not smart. Now another thing. What does this means to us professional DJ. We work our butt off to mix and get new records. Thank god, it didnt cost me a life for djing. Me and you the person who works very hard for our passion may just end it because some idiot DJ is out there performing for the first time, and totally blew it. Best Buy is giving us Djs a bad name. We might as well go search for another career. Well that just my 2 cents..Drop a line below me. |

What?
DJing is become more popular and that's probably why Best Buy is trying to mank more profit by selling the equitment...........thats a business strategy
So your point is keep the DJ equitment on the down low in a local store?? |

lol what you trying to say?
that best buy selling dj equipment will make you a bad dj? how the hell would that be? if you are good you will be good, if you arent you just suck.
And its a good thing to see best buy selling dj equpiment...its just means that dj culture/EDM is getting more popular in the states and thats a very good thing for any dj who is trying to make it big, now there will be a better chance for you to get big. If more companies started looking at thigs as best buy is doing...EDM will pick up a lot of poupularity in the states and isnt that what we all want? try make others be aware of what we have instead of just holding it to outselves ?

| I rather have my thoat cut then seen a ing idiot comes up to me and say "look at me, I can DJ." You are probably wondering. But I don't want Electronic Music to expand. I am here for a reason, to DJ and soon to make music. The reason why I said this is because, DJing is a private hobby. It should stay in a form of private. What's next, BB start to sell vinyls... What's next, these stupid ass raver kid who doesn't know jack about Djing comes to BB and starting buying crap. Now back to what I was saying, EDM is not like your avagrage Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. It should stay underground. |

I agree with a few of your points, though I don't see what the problem is with Best Buy sellin DJ Equipment. Sure, it may be opening up EDM a little to the public, but who cares. In my opinion, EDM should never and will never be mainstream though. But any kid who comes up to you sayin "hey look, i can DJ" just tell him "you think you can DJ? check this out" or somethin, and show him your skills, or just ignore him, knowing he doesn't know . Or, let him in on the underground scene and help him become more knowledgable. Don't just diss any starting dj guy just cuz they get their equip through a electronics store like Best Buy. Try and help a guy out. And if he still doesn't get it, THEN you can give up on him =P |

its people like you that i hate in the scene.....dude wtf? why wouldnt you want others to expierence what you are expierncing? the feeling you get when you listen to a sick track or get a song nicley beat matched?
EDM will go big in the states and it has to...its just starting to pick up here and the US is a big market, if more and more big name djs market themelves very well...you just wait and see where EMD will be in about 10 years also more djs form europe aren focusing their attention on the US and thats anoteher sign that EMD is getting big here.
I always try to bring in new people to the scene by making them a cd of good trance singles or a live set and show them what real music to me is and what the electronica scene has to offer. This is one of the best ways to make the scene grow by you brinig in others...if you keep on saying "i dont want others to like EMD and for EDM to grow" then you seriously have some negative views there....the whole point is to help the scene grow and not keep it restricted to the udnerground or just to your gorup of friends.
If amit didnt tell you about TA would you be in this little community we call TrancEaddict? no! Amit has brought on soo many DCTAs on to tranceaddict...there is a need for more people like him, with his views. Look at him now....he digs prog, but he doesnt say "ohh prog is only for me" no he doesnt, but what does he do? he shares his songs with other and try to educate them and show them what prog has to offer so others can expiernce what he expirences. Just like that you have to show non EDM listners what EMD has to offer.
when you got into trance/EDM did other help you at all with finding tracks and helping your knowledge about the music grow? i am pretty sure there has been someone like that for everyone here on TA and thats what we all should do tooo
Look over in Europe....is trance/EDM very popular? yes its on MTV, on the TOP 10 charts, its all over the TV, radio and even widley used in commericals. And it will be the same here in the states in a matter of years. More and more big festivals will come up in the stats, look at ULTRA, they expanding to nyc , the AREA tour has done very well, creamfiles was supposed to happen but it didnt but if they try in say 2 years it will fly.....and there will be more and more festival type events in the US...you cant stop it, but jsut stop with the negative attitude by saying things like "ohh i am cool becuase i listen to trance" or "trance is only for me"
Best buy is doing something good for the scene and we need more companies like them here...doing something postive for the scene
Also with EMD gettign more pouplar...more arits/producers and djs in the sence will get paid more for their work, isnt that what we all want? or woudl you just like to sit back and see all these pop stars selll 5 million alubms and make millions and millions while a dj doesnt even make that much?wouldnt you like to walk into borders or virgin and see you fav djs album and not worry about getting it speical orderd or getting it form somewhere in europe?
woudlnt you want this situation to improve so that when you hit it big that you will get paid much more than what djs now make?

Also, it is a sign that the european scene is like the pop scene here: too many people copying other peoples styles. Its just the normal over there, the Djs wanna expand and get new people into the scene from countries where EDM is not the mainstream, and possibly underground.
I don't hope EDM goes totally mainstream like some britney spears(nothin wrong with looking at britney, but listenin is the problem =P) crap, but I also don't hope it stays so far underground that someone would have a hard time ever finding out about it. |

I just feel like this is dumbing-down DJing and commercializing it in the US. And I Don't want that happening.
But guitars are popular as ever, and you don't see Best Buy selling those! Turntables & Mixers should be treated the same way as musical instruments.
I've got mixed feelings on this, but mainly, it pisses me off. |
