This is the best post I have read in a long time! (In my opinion of course) Seriously people, can any of you PVD bashers really justify your statements? PVD fans, followers or watever you want to call us...read/listen to his interviews, we pay attention to articles and listen and play his music. He is not in this gig for the money..it's just what he gets paid to do what he loves and make his music. What about all those tracks that the late Tupac Shakur and Kurt Cobain wrote, recorded and performed before their tragic deaths...this music was unreleased...are they arrogant too?! For those who love PVD, we are moved by his music and the music he chooses to play. In this world where being a DJ has become a pastime for kids and grown-ups like Baseball to some, PVD has made a mark and is not goig to let up. He is experimenting with new ways of putting out his music (DVD), he is expanding his talent to the film industry(Zurdo)...He isn't asking for acceptance, he has it...from the masses that flock to his shows. All you PVD bashers are probably there every time! He may not get voted the best DJ in the world ever, but it isn't about that. He is an artist, and if you ever really paid attention to his actions, you will realize that he is uncomfortable in the limelight, so to speak. He comes to clubs, festivals and various venues to spread the music he loves and set the tone for what is in the now in his genre of music. He plays the tracks that become huge on this forum first! ALWAYS! He has produced some of the classiest electronic music tracks ever. He's only 29 years old and has said before, he will do this until it's time...to not do it!

This is my take on it and I am sure there are many that agree and many that disagree. I am not offening anyone and if I have, not my intention...This culture will survive (especially in the United States) if people can learn and practice a sense of respect for those within the culture.

well written!

2 vandit cookies for you my friend.

Ok he does it for the love, im sure he also does it for the $$$ i mean we all love the music, but im sure the $$$ is just as sweet.

ok...so why does it confuse you that he doesn't like mp3s? no matter what way you look at it if you download an mp3 of a song and dont buy the single or the album or the vinyl or whatever, you are effectively robbing them of the income that they would have gotten if you bought the music. if hes making a living out of producing music and djing, why shouldn't he be upset that people are ripping him off when they like the music as much as everyone else but they dont think they should pay for it? whats wrong with making money from it anyway? hes got bills to pay lol :p of course the $$$ would be sweet, but so what? im not saying he should start getting cheap and greedy and i hope that doesnt happen but if he makes money from doing what he loves and people steal that away from him i can see why he wouldn't love mp3s like most of us do! :)

Well, I'm just saying is all.......

I'm sure he is a very nice man, whether he like money or whatever, who knows? He might be a fragile artist or whateva....but that hasn't got much to do with it.

But back to the topic, i think zarathustra is right - he doesn't change them enough, and they're probly not commissioned and he wouldn't be allowed to release them.

I seriously hope your not comparing PvD to people that actually had talent.....and I believe there stuff was unreleased cos they died ;)
most of his reworks are complete bull, taking apart other peoples work so he can put dance ejay beats on them, or removing vocals for whatever madhead reasons he has
I've already mentioned his rework of what it feels like for a girl, there's also his "dub" of shockwaves mix of spacefrog - follow me, what the is the point in making a dub of it? the vocals are the whole damn point of the tune, they're all that makes the shockwave mix bearable to listen to. Making the dub of "tic toc" (actually I agree with him on that one, vocals are wank...but still).....the rework of iio - Rapture...........:stongue:
rock_roll18
Got to admit...he has to start making his own quality productions and stop remixing and reconstructing (whatever ie bit) is added.
His mixing is good...but imho his production r sucky as of now

I can't believe anyone can butcher a track that much (and I've heard Seventh City spin :stongue: )
he changed the bassline a bit, and made the synth really weak......
fecking weirdo

get a life....seriously...u stick on these forums all day slating me....and u never heard me mix, maybe play some top tunes on winamp, but i only broadcasted one of my mixes and that was to a few select TAs and was a good performance, not you!

If I had to guess, probably about half of you know what the hell you are talking about. Have you ever watched PVD mix up close, better yet, have you ever really watched the styles of DJs in general??? People on this forum like to describe tracks in set IDs as a PVD rework...take your heads out of your asses and realize that a good prtion of those "re-works" are him mixing the set. FOr instance, he dropped Blackeight - The Silence at Okyo a few weeks ago. There is a vocal in the middle of the original track...I listened to it, then his set and realized he sampled and set que points where he wanted in order to cut a part of the track out. That is his style of mixing. YES, he has re-worked and re-edited tracks...why not, if I had the ability to give a track a "facelift" I would too. Mixing music is an art, and PVD has tricks up his sleeve (like many other DJS) that would make your jaw drop to the floor. Not everything is what it seems...So Kimmi and Starfox, you may be two of the only ones at this point that really understand what I am talking about. All others, your negative gutless rhetoric doesn't hold any weight here. I will not talk about PVD being a God, because he isn't, he is an artist and a well respected one at that. I hope all of your bashing makes you all feel better about your musical shortcomings...Peace
