Well, I think with some basic physics laws you can give a reason for the complexity of lifeforms and a reason for our being.
I don't know it's name in english so let me just put it in my own words: everything in this universe tends to move to the lowers amount of energy, or the highest disorder. That's why apples fall down and not up. :eyes:
So how does this explain the development of complex organic structures? Not quite simple, as organic structures are way more complex than a single rock. No wall comes clear when you say that this law applies for macrostructures as it is derived from statistics, which in turn is only true for large numbers. Then you can allow the energy lever to raise locally, but only if the overall energylevel drops. That's why all chemical reactions with higher order results are endotherm and thus need some extra energy to take place.
Some of the energy produced by our sun is the highest form of energy: electromagnetic waves known as light. When the light hits an object such as a planet some part of it is transformed to the lowest level: thermal energy but the biggest part reflected keeping the high level.
This is the time organic structures take over. Photosynthesis is highly effective in transforming light into thermal energy... only a very small amount of light is reflected. But this also creates some higher level molecules. We could just leave them alone and after some time they will dissolve and release the energy put into them as thermal energy. But what if there were processes using the stored energy of the plants molecules to create more complex molecules... maybe they can put the energy into active motion.... all just to one result: more thermal energy in less time!!!
So after all, for me this is the only reason for our being... call it my meaning of life. That's all... no reason for souls as this would imply some higher level energy without the increase of entropy.
...and what happens if such an effective heat producing machine fails? It fails and is decomposed. |

but where does it go, when your body runs out of life? I guess there's a next dimension after dying. And of course there is God, whoever He is
