Condor vs Reloop - Velvet Society (Tristan's Mashup)
Neo and Farina - Binary Refined
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Marco V Mix) with Kai Tracid - Liquid Skies (Acapella)
mixed very well, came second to someone who played lala land, org mix of punk and then loneliness *shakes head*. |

| cheers guys, it sounds a bit arrogant but i think it went over their heads to a degree as they're both house djs so even after I pointed out the mashups I'd done, they didn't really seem overly impressed. knows what else you could do in 30 mins. Oh well, I didn't lose any sleep over it and was just happy to play well. |

what a mash up?
is it mixing an incomin tune in for a loong while having it be the next tune, or is it mixing an incoming tune for most of the song, and taking it out again?

I've just sort of progressed my sound. I liked the way Jules R won the bass station comp by playing hard and tough yet keeping the uplifting sound. I just love the concept of keeping the good feeling of trance while driving it out. Also I've just really loved the recent stuff by M.I.K.E. and neo and farina. So much drive.
I don't know about mashups, I think it can vary from just having an acapella over the top of a track to two tracks working completely over the top of the other. That condor one of mine starts with velvet dreams then I work in reloop, when the first breakdown of reloop happens i cut off velvet dreams before bringing it back in the the reloop breakdown climaxes, then they both keep going before the main reloop breakdown gets going and the wicked sample from velvet dreams comes in over the top. It's mainly just in and out, together then in then out.
Currently i'm searching for something to use the acapella of Adam Freeland's we want your soul over.... :D |

| Mashups are exactly that, two tracks mashed together. Accapellas thrown over a track aint a mashup, its like sprinkled peas over mash potato. Proper mashups, (peas mixed right in with the potato) are achieved my takin elements from both tunes n combining them. You could do it my simply playing two tunes together at the same time, but goodluck finding two tracks which run well together. So instead, ya take bits n bobs from the two tracks, drumloop n bassline from one, melody from the other, swirlies n washes from one of em or a totally different source etc. A prime example of a pea n potato mashup is Zabielas Wavey Gravy vs Enjoy the Silence tune or Pointys Shawshank Redemption vs Wavy Gravy...(/end shameful self-plug) But yea, dus is a mashup :cool: |
