Das Glockenspiel means "The Glockenspiel" The glockenspiel is a musical instrument that is composed of wooden blocks that make a note, sorta like a mettalophone. A glockenspiel makes the main melod in the tune.
carte Blanche means "White Card"
I was told by someone that backstage passses were referred to as White Cards, although i'm not sure. That is where the connotation of "the freedom to do stuff" comes from as u can do lotsa stuff when u go backstage or something! :D |

| Cool thread. This is kind of off topic, but I read Push's "Universal Nation" was written about him breaking up with a long time girlfriend. It also said people want him to break up with a girl again so he could have inspiration to make another tune as great as that one. |

| When translated directly, "carte blanche" means "the white letter" or "the white map", but it's also a phrase which means something entirely different. I think when they used it in the track name, they meant the latter one (it's a history term damn it!)... :D |

My French is really bad but I know "blanche" is white. I think "Carte" is book or map or something along those lines....
No doubt I'm way off the mark though...:D
And thanks for the Der Scheiber translation Sand Leaper... |
carte blanche translates directly to 'white card.'
it doesn't mean white label or freedom to act, though the latter definition is somehwat sensical.
carte blanche is essentially an identity piece that is given by governments and giant corporations to certain members of its faction, like chief scientists (think einstein and bohr), which gives them the ability to use it like a credit chip. basically, a credit card that they don't have to pay for. obviously they can't go out and buy a ferrari, but they can spend dumb amounts of money as long as they come up with a reason for it. it counts as their salary. |

Yes it does. It's a common term in English for "freedom to act outside of usual restrictions." |

"though the latter definition is somehwat sensical" :)
the english derivation of the term is based on the french definition. the term is for like a paystub originally.
thank 'blank check' in english. basically it's when someone gives you a blank piece of paper onto which you write your terms or whatever. that is, the sum that you're paid.
in english, 'entrepreneur' is a term that's originally from french, and means someone who starts his own business.
in french it actually means someone with initiative to start his own deal, and not just business like in english.
definitions change, and i see your point, but we're talking about original definitions here, i think. please correct me if i'm wrong. :thepirate |

In response to "Solar Stone 7 Cities":
I know of a Spanish tale about the "7 Cities of Cibola" which were legendary "cities of gold" located in Central and South America.
Moontribe - Dance Of The Seventh Hill (DJ Tiesto Remix)
Has to be a reference to one of Rome's 7 hills: Palantine, Aventine, Esquiline, Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, and Caelian. I envision some sort of pagan ritual as well taking place.
Body Shock - Mars Plastic
Pretty obvious one here. L-Vee here is saying that his tracks are going to shock you by their awesomeness. He's right. The title refers to plastic which is manufactured on Mars. |
