it'll come down faster than it has ever before .. due in part to the widespread and mainstream use of digital cameras now and less so portable audio devices..

True, but cameras don't require nearly as much storage as portable audio. You could fit about 2000 pictures on a 512 meg flash card, so in a sense, the technology is already advanced enough for the digicam industry.

Anyway, why try to predict the future? Right now it's MD4EVA! :p

I've got a 40x burner, I realize how little time it takes. I'm just pointing out that there is "prep time" involved, same as minidiscs.

what about DV.. CF could very well replace use of bulkier DV tapes since DV capabilities are being incorporated into more digicams now as well .. anyways, whatever don't wanna get too off topic with this thread as it has already ..

Wow, am I the only one? I have a Diskman.
Nobody defended CD Players? Anyways, I have the new thin Panasonic one, and I'm loving it. It is NOT bulky (a bit heavy though). I got it for about 200Cnd. I thought it was a preaty good price at the time. The thing is, I got about 100 cds. It would be a waste to have a MD plyaer. I can always take the CD out of the Diskman and pop into some sterio system. Well....those are my 2 cents.

The MP3/CD players can play regular audio CD's perfectly fine, so getting a plain CD player these days is kind of pointless especially since they run for about the same price as the MP3/CD players...

True.
I havn't seen a really nice looking Mp3/Cd player. Probobly wasn't looking hard enough tho. If they could only fit a gig or two on an inch size Flash card. Till then, lets wait for DvD/Cd/mp3 Players.
