I'm not reluctant in naming the City. I just don't want YOU to know. What the big deal. The year was 1998, when I started Univerisity (the summer right before). If you would know anything about Orchestras you would know that you can't just call up the preformer the week before the show and say you are playing. It takes a lot of time and smoozing to get these guys to play and organize the venues (come to think of it, its just like a party). Hence the reason why we were working on it in the summer time. Since you are right, I don't know too much about classical music (I get by with what I know) I can't tell you the names of the other artists of the top of my head that were going to be on the following years bill but I know that we were all really excited in getting Mr. Yo Yo Ma to preform since my boss, the conductor, was a cellist himself and was excited about doing a preformance with him.

Hehehe. No actually you didn't. The conductor unforunately passed away the summer following. Again, you are not reading what I am writing. Yes, it was a small Orchestra but obviously it was big enough to get some good names to preform. The conductor (sweetest man that ever walked the earth) was the one that hired me for the office and to work as his assistant for the administrative tasks required. I wouldn't doubt that Mr. Yo Yo Ma was friends with my boss since my boss was an awesome guy.
Maybe if you knew every single conductor around the world then you can talk but you don't. |
