Haha, I think the trailer already ruined the movie to an extent. If you just look back, you will notice that absolutely every part in the movie that made your jaw drop was showcased in the trailer, which really took a lot of the surprise factor out of the movie.
I will say it was a good movie - your movie ticket worth the special effects alone. However I thought it was no where near as close to good as it could have been. The special effects were amazing, the acting was amazing (agent smith was his usual comic genious self), yet when the movie was over it was no where near as satisfying as the first one. Why? Because the brothers that directed this made some very poor directing decisions.
Almost from the start, Reloaded feels different from the original — a more stilted, mechanical, blockbuster-business-as-usual effort - a basically cheesy attempt to build on the first matrix.
WTF was up with the mundane unnecessary scene where the black dude comes back to his wife and he gets the cliche "why aren't you home enough" speach? Totally useless. Then of course theres the shots of him making those "YESSS" and "Phewww" remarks after tight situations, boring, cliche, makes you think who the hell directed this.
Then you got the rave/sex/drugs orgy on your screen for about 3/4 mins. It just totally made the movie look like a joke.
Or what about the part where he's in the french guys house and hes fighting those guys with medieval weapons yet he doesn't try to kill them as efficiently as possible. He comes accross an assortment of weapons yet only untill the very end does he use them to inflict lethal strikes.
I mean it just goes on an on with similar type scenes - secenes that make you think, how could the directors of the first matrix after that nice piece of work and all their acquired experiece come up with this corny, cheesy, raunchy garbage.
Its such a shame this movie feels so empty because reeves, moss, weaving (agent smith) and fishbourne for the most part delivered excellent performances. |

k I thought the movie was brilliant. Great acting from everybody, but the end is so anticlimatic. I mean climax and its done. and now I have to wait another what 5 months for the next one? oh well, at least its not 4 years.
so anyways the movie. I thought the fight scenes were very well done(AMAZING!), and im looking forward to seeing more of that Jap dude who protects the oracle in the third one. The story development is very good, but as Nalin mentioned, the bit about the youre not home enuf, im sure it either relates to the third movie, or deleted scenes. I mean, it does add to the humanity of the movie, that not everybody is involved in the matrix and the fight to save Zion and that some people are just living their lives. bla bla bla..we will see when the DvD or movie 3 gets released.
but the story was just so good. Leaving you blanked most of the movie until he meets different characters, and even then it is tough to grasp it(or so it seemed to most of the puzzeled people around me) it does say alot, and is just so much to comprehend. 5 before? hes got to chose? whoah...heady stuff
and I thought the rave in a cave was wicked. It doesnt further the story in anyway, other than explaning Zion (how are we supposed to feel empathetic about the machines destroying a city we know nothing about, again, it relates to the humanity of it. I think the brothers do it well)
I give the movie 5 on 5. that may change after I go see it next time, but it was sweet. IN SWEET! |

well i thought the movie was somewhat cheesy: typical blockbuster kinda thing as Nalin said.
Agreed with the "why aren't u home enough" scene. i thought that was boring as hell. i don't remember ever being bored watching the first movie... even till now, everytime i watch it, i find something else interesting.
I think this movie was in place to a) give the trilogy some meaning (ie now we understand what Zion stands for and how the matrix is related to Zion)
b) make us anticipate Matrix 3
c) challange T3: Rise of the Machines when it comes out... hence the release of M3 right after M2... by like 5 months.
what i still don't undestand is WHY is the matrix like that?
i mean from my understanding: 99% of the humans in the matrix accept the program. 1% rebel. The oracle and her counterpart the creator gets those 1% out and make Zion. The oracle spreads "prophecies" (ie lies) and then some nut like Morphious believes in it and eventually find "the ONE" who in real life is just a regular guy only created by the matrix itself. Rather, there is also another program who wants to get out which is the Agents... as we remember from the first movie Smith says "i HATE this place, this stink.. this what ever u call it...." "... i need to be free, i need to get out of here.. i need the key to Zion.."
so we know Smith is a program who wants to get out. Now that smith is a program free from the matrix mainframe he wants humans to die as well. But what i don't get is if the Matrix controls the humans and it's a cycle that starts every so often, why don't they kill the new software "Smith" since he escaped the matrix himself.
Now the only reason why Neo walked through the other door is because of love. Difference between that Neo and the others is that he LOVES humanity (ie trinity)
maybe the answer is in M3.. i dunno. |

i thought the movie was alrite .. but i had more fun watching X2 ..
i did pick up a lotta stuff after watching the first one again tho..
check this out in MAtrix 1:
Neo's appartment # is 101 .. and so is the building floor of that French dood in Matrix 2.
Just before Neo gets interrogated by the Agents in Matrix 1 .. you'll notice that the architech was watching him.
Neo hides his cash and DataMD's in a book titled "Nilhism" .. which is some of the philosophical speighl that the architech gives him in their meeting ..
Neo undergoes the same "replication" as agent Smith in Matrix 1 .. Trinity even points it out when he touches the mirror before his mind is freed..
my Friend also found a bunch of stuff in Matrix 2 that related to the animatrix in case some of you have seen in , apart from the more obvious Final Flight of Osiris ..
oh yea .. and the woman in the red dress is also the one who gets the orgasm in MAtrix 2 .. :D |

i dont think you really got the second movie, but what i thought and a couple of ppl i talked to was that the creator of matrix keeps making the matrix and rebuilding it again to make it better, thats why it has been made 5-6 times, and also neo is part machine part human kinda..
they are basiaclly making the matrix again and again to be able to take over the humans. the oracles and them are there to direc "the one" to the mainframe which is basically the end of zion but the prophecies are a lie for them to reach the mainframe. |

As far as Nalin's Comments about the black guy going home to his family is to show that zion is still the real world, its kinda the conversation you have in the normal world and not the matrix, it just wanted to show us the real world better and they did a good job
which i dont think it was totally usless, i still think it was a really good way to end it becuase they left it without and ending and you have no idea how the third one is going to be like because there is Agent Smith, and also you dont know what is the deal with him and also the end of the world is coming like the creator of matrix said even though neo caught trinity and he saw it in his dream that she falls.
the only thing that i didnt like was the fact that there was a little bit too much computer this time (where neo is fighting all the Agent Smith's) |

apparently .. the comptuers leave a certain number of survivors after every attack on Zion in order to have it rebuilt again ..
the thing is .. after each destruction i believe that Neo gains more and more power in the real world and will eventually come to a point where his power exists both in and outside the Matrix ..
and beware.. agent Smith is loose ! ;]
(outside the Matrix that is..)
btw. here's the TRAILER for MATRIX 3 - REVOLUTIONS :D

| If anyone remembers the scene with Persephone and Neo (Monica Bellucci and Reeves) doing the kissing bit .. I have to say that the urinal behind them is amazing. We gotta have some of those in public bathrooms. |
