It's wednesday now but what the hell...
Because I'm a dumbass, I waited in line for > 1 hour which put me in there around 1am. Then the best part was when the girl molested me (sarcasm)...I've never had a searcher stick her hand down my pants - I was in shock! I didn't think they were allowed to that .
As for the party, it was insane. I liked Sasha's set just because when you see Sasha (or listen to his CDs/sets), there's always stuff you've never heard before.
Caught the last 15 mins of Bassbin Twins and they kind of sucked, however I would definitely give them another chance. Ferry was awesome just because he exceeded my expectations...I wasn't expecting a powerful, breakbeat driven set like that. Awesome.
Suprise of the night: Arcticboy! damn guy...I think you made me do a double-take!
Good TA representation...too bad everyone seemed to be so scattered! Where the hell were you Az...I couldn't even find your tall-ass!

8:00 - Picked up vickyvale in Brantford
9:45 - Met Trancegeek @ a Coffee Time by Victoria Park to snag my ticket (thanks bro) and proceeded to The Guv
10:30 - Arrive at The Guv and proceed to pay $20 for parking!!!!!! Not that i blame them, i would've charged double.
10:35 - Do a quick tour of the grounds......quite impressed with the overall setup, and noticed right away that the doorways were one-way only.
10:45 - Run into cono_sur in the Kool Haus (how the hell are you the first one i ALWAYS run into anyways?!!?) Stretch & Hooker were laying down the first set of the night, and sounded pretty good.....although a few mixing problems occured in only the first 15 minutes of being there. Met tha_broad as she was dancing up a storm, while most were trying to conserve energy for what was to come later. Also hung out with Diginut for a lil bit as well!
11:00 - Decide to venture into The Guv again to hear some of Luke Fair's set. He played some bangers to warmup Sasha, and had the crowd (which was small at the time) dancing like maniacs already!! Had a few beers, chilled out......then made a dash for the Skybar with cono_sur, vickyvale & __________(please fill in the blank....u know who you are!!!).
11:15 - Skybar is jumpin.....good house music is always a nice way to start off a party. Ran into Endlesswave, Time2burn and a few other TA's. Chatted about Sasha's new EM that came out a few weeks, and Endlesswave swore to me that if he plays his new Unkle remix that he'll lose his mind.
11:30 - Evil P hits the decks. Im in heaven, almost to the extent he had me when he opened for Donald Glaude & Jelo. He had the whole place goin off when he played "I Feel Love" - Donna Summer (Danny Howells RMX), and "Feel Alive" - Pure Orange (Scumfrog Remix) back to back. After hearing those tracks, i was in the mood for "a bigger atmosphere and sound" so back down to The Guv we went.
12:00 - The Guv all of the sudden is PACKED. People going insane for what Fair was treating them with. Jumpin prog-house, that set the tempo perfectly for what was to come. Went up on the stage briefly, had the pleasure of meeting sober_24_7, but then felt the need to join the highly energized crowd. Once i hit the crowd i ran into StereoPrincess and new TA KosmicFairy (Welcome!!). Fair closes his set a hair past one o'clock, and when people realize Sasha is about to drop his first piece of pure bliss, madness ensues and the rush begins....not only in the crowd but in my head as well ;) .......
1:02 - Sasha hits the decks and drops one of the nicest melodies ive experienced in my whole life!!! It seemed to last close to 5 minutes, then the beat hit......and i was completely in the zone. I was there for his whole set, taking in all the sounds....mesmerized at times, but still dancing like a raged lunitic as usual. I dont think i saw one person in the whole club without a smile on their face, and the vibe was absolutely magnificent. Ran into Endlesswave out of nowhere and of course, on cue.....ON COMES THE UNKLE TRACK!!!!! We danced our ing brains out and went completely nuts!!! Great times.
3:30 - Sasha still going strong, all of the sudden flips the whole on us and goes crazy with in your face dark progressive breaks!!! Never heard anything like this in my life, and definately have never danced as hard as i did for the conclusion of his set. Like many others, i was about to head over to the Kool Haus to check out Ferry immediately after Sashas set. But then.........
4:00 - Zabiela gets on the turntables. Continues to lace us with the dark progressive breaks that Sasha concluded with, but then outta no where he drops this huge ass warped bassline that almost forced me to plug my ears!!!! INSANITY!!!!! The technical skills alone kept me in The Guv, but also his music was exactly what i was craving at the time. He played some tribal sounds, mixed with breaks, all sounding very rough and raw. Definately need to get this guy back here ASAP!!!
5:45 - Head over to the Kool Haus. Ferry is well into his set by now, and the KH is RAMMED PACKED!!! It was also a lot hotter in there than in the Guv, and raining like mad!!! The transition from Sasha/Zabiela to Corsten was very tough to adjust i must admit. I couldnt really get into his set. Made an attempt to get closer to the front, but the sound was just deafening. The treble seemed way too high, and it felt like i was losing my hearing from only 10 minutes of being in there. Energy levels were declining rapidly, and i needed a breath of fresh air.
6:30 - Drag myself up to The Skybar, and thinking to myself "can i really go any longer!?!?!" Sat my ass down and guzzled 78 glasses of ice water. Felt A LOT better. Oliver was laying down a nice housey set, and the sun was just starting to rise. Good thing it was kinda cloudy, cause i sure as hell wouldnt of been able to take the brightness of a typical "party - morning after". Bumped into Tatgirl, and a few other TA's (GOD DAMN MY MEMORY IS ED!!!) Wish i remembered your guys names! Danced up a storm once again, and finally my legs gave up on me. Time to leave.
8:45 - Departure
To finalize this massively detailed review i must say (like many others have stated) The Guvernment were bang on with this party. Organized perfectly, capacity was held in check, and the line-up was awesome. After lastyears debacle, i swore to myself "never again will i go to a Summers End party at The Guv". Well im glad i convinced myself otherwise, and ill definately be in attendance for years to come........ |
