Mortal Kombat started it for me too, then Wipeout, then I found out Sasha made the music, so I talked to my friend who listened to a lot of "electronica" and asked him if he had any Sasha songs, he immediately sent me Sasha-Xpander, and I was hooked from then on.
Then after finding trance addict, I came to know Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, PvD, Armin, and a bunch of others.
I guess Mortal Kombat was my roots though.
My friend had the Mortal Kombat sound track, and I recorded it to a tape and listened to it almost constantly. |

I steadily progressed through to trance after hearing other forms of electronica. Tunes like Stardust - music sounds better with you, Bob Marley vs Funkstar Deluxe, Alice DJ - Better Off Alone
My main exposure to electronica was through the "Wild" series of dance compilations in Australia.
I remember hearing some awesome trance tracks like
Lost Tribe - Gamemaster and PVD - For an Angel
along with some eurodance stuff like Vengaboys, Alice DJ etc
hehe THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!!!! |

The same here: Mortal Kombat.
I forgot about that movie, but that was definitely the first place where I heard electronic music. I was 8 or 9 years old (now im 17).
At that time I Didnt realize that it is electronic music. My favourite scene is the fight with reptile :)
After that movie I got the soundtrack and I was listening to it all the time. |
