How you got into Trance (pg. 6)

WOW, this hasn't been used in a while...
I stated that I discovered PvD through Wipeout 3. Well, after that, I went on to discover DJ Tiësto thru kazaa, when I saw an 8 minute video for Dance Valley 2001. He was spinning Members of Mayday: 10 in 1. GREAT SONG! The song that followed was kinda lame, tho. :( Then, after Tiësto, I went on to find out about Armin van Buuren when I saw these "A State of Trance" files popping up in mIRC. I was hooked onto that, as well as ID&T Radio. |

| i got drunk, saw this guy (aka dstrukt) thought he was cute chatted bout clubbing for a bit, then 2 weeks later went out with his lady his good self and his best mate (magansoma who i also thought was cute) and the rest is not history but very much trance presence |

Coolness. First time I ever went to any trance/prog event was at this Club Liquid in South Beach. on 3/23/02. Sandra Collins was there. (I'm not sure what genre she is.) I got OBLITERATED that night. ;) Then I went to see Deep Dish Live @ ClubSpace, on (hehe) 4/20/02. As I had stated in another thread, I had to escape to ClubSpace that night becuz it was 4/20, and all of my friends were getting high. :whip: And I don't do that . The escape was worth it, tho! Deep Dish played an excellent set that night, didn't leave till 5AM or so.
Oh, and might I add, I went to both events alone. |

Ok lets see
I liked rap music in highschool. I got to college and realized I hate rap music. I was in the dorms with my new computer and found about MP3s. I downloaded some 80s music and found some songs by DJ Quicksilver and Sash! (dont laugh too much). I like those songs and then eventually got into more real trance. I Think first album i got was Paul Oakenfold Transport. The rest is history, now i got a massive collection. |

I think a few people may have gotten started with the 'mainstream' stuff, like Alice Deejay (whom I love even tho they're considered cheese or cheap or whatever), Lasgo, and stuff like that. Think of it like this: as long as they bypass the 'mainstream' phase, they're good to go. :p
And MP3s are a beautiful thing. :haha:

| I think I've probably said this about a jillion times but I "discovered" trance and found this site when a freind of mine sent me an mp3 of iio-rapture that had this site in the id3 tag. |

That's how i got into trance too!!! Haha, basically i was listening to some gay ass hard house CD mixed by DJ Irene and i hear Delerium - Silence, Tiesto remix... At first i didn't like it, and thought Tiesto was crappy... But then i noticed he was ranked #1 dj on thedjlist.com so i searched for a video of him in kazaa search engine, saw that, and ive been diggin trance ever since :) |

Major league coolness. :D After a while, I went in search of that liveset, Dance Valley '01...Still one of my top fav livesets and still the #1 reason I got into Tiësto. :D |

For me I always use to love Euro-New Wave anything with stuff besides just guitars. Slowly it evolved from "dance" music to whatever else I thought sounded phat, I really cant pinpoint when I "got into trance." But I always knew I had a love for electronic-based music.
Plus I always figured since I was Asian, anything electronic based was in my blood. LOL |
