It's actually PVD vs Marco V - For A Revolt

It was by far the best set I heard live in TO! We got to KH arround 12-00, Mark was spinning very good opening! PVD came on at 12-30 and started dropping one AMAZING tune after another, the crowd just went nuts! You can't even compare it with the Armin's set a night before! Sooo much energy in PVD's sets, that's what I love him for. He seemed to have a good time himself, danced in the DJ booth, signed lots of stuff(even my Vandit t-shirt, but that's after his set :D), and played 20 min. encore. I had to leave right after his set, have an assignment due on Tuesday, which I did not even start yet :nervous: At the coat check I heard Mark dropping Boomerang, and the crowd screaming in KH:)
It was nice seeing TA's, props to Durafei, Tanya, TranceGeek, brunette,RJ,jenna_rae, charmcars,StereoPrinces, dj eso, Mobius, and everyone else whome I forgot to mention:)
The tracks that I remember:

Three Drives - Carera (Nu Nrg mix)
Beautiful Things (G&B mix)
Motorcycle - ATRC(Sweeping String mix)
Paul van Dyk - Time of Our Lives
Paul van Dyk - Another Way ( Club mix)
Paul van Dyk - Nothing but you
Paul van Dyk vs Marco V - For A Revolt
Tiesto - Traffic
Walter Mindz
What a weekend for me... i'll post a review later.
In the mean time add:
Paul Van Dyk - Vega (Staircase remix)
Jason Inc. - Overflow

Hey man! what's up? Wow, that was a great party. PvD killed us all with his set...Mark Oliver was a good opener too, but as always, I take it easy until the guest DJ's come on. I don't dance too crazy, but I never stop moving for the big boys.:D

Anyway, any preconceived notions I had about PvD's personality are wiped away. Sure, he's not as crazy as Tiesto or Armin on the decks, but he's got his own style and he probably signed 400 autographs. Great set and a great guy. I hope he comes back soon along with Tiesto.
Dj Smitty20
Ah great times wasn't it? PvD killed....simply slaughtered us all with his stuff tonight. He was solid from start to finish. This, along with Tiesto at the Docks in June this year, was probably the best party I've been to live. Insane atmosphere....Toronto REALLY was hungry for Mr. Van Dyk. I hope he's buried the hatchet with the Guv owner Charles and will come back within 6 months to a year again.

I talked to a few TA's....rabbitjoker for one, saw him get his vinyl signed and the global DVD...didn't tell him who i was though. And of course Starsearcher....cool dude! A few others too, but I didn't catch the names...I was up at the front with short hair and glasses, dark green shirt.

I'm surprised to hear PvD playing Traffic...he rarely plays Tiesto...but Traffic seems to have caught on with the other Dj's on the scene, which is good.

Tracks I remember....

PvD - Crush
PvD - Nothing But You
PvD - Avenue
PvD - Time of Our Lives (two different mixes)
PvD - Connected (closer)
Tiesto - Traffic
As the Rush Comes
Beautiful Things
a couple tracks off the Politics of Dancing which I couldn't recall the names of.

I have a few gripes with people in general who go to these events. Ok, it's a given that it's going to be packed and hot, but WHY THE do people need to dance like monkies and hit people when they are FULLY AWARE that there is hardly any room? And what the HELL is with people getting on other's shoulders and people jumping, of all stupid things to do, off the stage. The Guv needs more bouncers on the stage kicking some ass and I mean it. The autograph requests were getting out of hand....I mean, I saw PvD sign a ing gum pack. If I were him, I would have stopped. People were getting too damn pushy. And what is with the WHISTLES? GOD! But the idiots aside, I still had a great time. I just come to expect all the aforementioned bull and then bitch about it later.

Overall....10/10 night!

Sounds like PVD is turning out to be a "must-not-miss" night on the 26th! Hopefully he kills it too :D

Glad you guys had fun tho, you all sound like you're still high on the music ;)

Wow, i just walked in the door, what a great night. PVD ripped it for the entire set... Not to mention a lot of his set including the opening was from trance energy 2003 which you TA's are all very fimiliar with I assume. My only complaint with the night was when i went to the TA meeting spot at 12:30 i couldn't find anyone!!! Didn't matter though i had a good crew, Deep Dish was pretty weak i thought but i wasn't expecting much. Mark opening was beautiful and closing was amazing once everyone got over the awe of PVD on the decks..... 9.5/10 night easily

Just a little fix for my above post..... DD had some very quality sounding tracks but they're basslines didn't last long enough.

I normally dont post reviews and such but because of what I heard last night, I just have to say something....

Words couldn't describe the music I heard last night - Stunning, beautiful, mindblowing - They all can begin to explain what I was listening to.

Now normally when I head out to see a DJ no matter who it is, it usually has to do with work, so I usually dont get too excited but not last night man... After the interview, I had the liberty of standing on the stage behind him for pretty much his whole set and listening and watching him do his thing... I stood there with Itikia for pretty much his entire set - just stunned... amazed.... Paul Van Dyk is an absolute GENIUS, in his programming ability, in his mixing, in his remix and production techniques that he throws into a set - I stood behind him and watched him do everything and I was blown away. No DJ and I mean absolutely NO DJ EVER has had an impact on me the way he did - His music was absolutely brilliant. He is by far the best DJ in world - EONS ahead of ANY tiesto, Armin, or Sasha - He started his set and pounded you track after track till the very very end - No sleeper tracks - every single song, a component in an intricate puzzle - Honestly, I've never stayed out ALL night till like 5 or 6 completely sober - no alcohol no nothing - just the music, thats the kind of affect it had on me. I thought he was the best thing to ever happen to dance music since I heard his first set at "live at Cafe Mambo '99" - check it out if you havent already.

His reflections album is really well done, so if you like what you heard, support the people that bring you this beautiful music and go and buy the album.

Thank you once again Paul for letting people know in Toronto, its not all about dark, dirty, tribal, repetitive, endless beats - but about banging, pumping, driving, uplifting, beautiful dance music.
